About us

I help women-owned, minority businesses, and non-profits strategically design custom visual brands and responsive websites to educate, generate leads and build authority with an emphasis on accessibility and SEO. ° WBENC-Certified woman-owned WBE ° Kansas MBE/WBE/DBE-certified small business owner Hello! I'm Marisa, the creative force behind Marisa Gonzales Studios, LLC, nestled in the vibrant heart of the Midwest. My journey in graphic communications has been as dynamic as our ever-changing seasons, blending my Mexican-American heritage with a deep commitment to fostering diversity in design. With a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Communications, my adventure began in the tactile world of typography and print design working for various design agencies, eventually expanding into the boundless realms of digital creativity. My passion lies in aesthetics and in making design accessible and impactful, bridging communities and cultures through visual storytelling. At Marisa Gonzales Studios, LLC, we craft bespoke visual brands, responsive websites, and comprehensive marketing collateral. Our mission is to empower women-owned enterprises, minority businesses, and nonprofits, helping them shine and connect and resonate with their audiences on a profound level. Whether through WordPress, Squarespace, digital designs, or the canvas of a print campaign, we're dedicated to enhancing online visibility, fostering engagement, and driving meaningful action. Beyond the pixels and print, my heart beats to the rhythm of Latin culture, a melody that infuses my work with vibrancy and authenticity. In design, as in life, I believe in the power of storytelling, inclusivity, and the transformative impact of well-crafted visuals. Let's connect and explore how we can bring your vision to life, weaving together the threads of creativity, strategy, and culture to create designs that look stunning and tell your unique story.

“Pursue what you love and are passionate about. Because you’re only going to live once. So make it the best possible life you can.” These were my father’s words to me (as he was recovering from open-heart surgery). And it’s those words and the encouragement of my late aunt that started my journey towards launching my boutique design agency, Marisa Gonzales Studios, LLC in May 2019." I'm looking forward to the changes my business is making, not only with my clients but also the people I choose to work alongside in my business and those I choose to keep in my network! Founder/President, Justice for Migrant Women; Co-founder, The Latinx House, Poderistas & Alianza Nacional de Campesinas

On this International Migrants Day I celebrate the strength, courage, resilience and many contributions of the millions of people who migrate across the world. They leave the people and the places they love for many reasons- violence, poverty, climate change, war and, sometimes, to follow their dreams of achieving a better life as they define it and on their own terms. Thousands of migrating people die each year in pursuit of a better life. According to the UN, "[m]ore than 70,000 people have lost their lives along migration routes since 2014." Some migrating people suffer human trafficking, different forms of gender based violence and exploitation of all kinds. Millions move to countries around the world where they create businesses, jobs and opportunity for others. They give so much to all of us. I am proud to come from people who bravely migrated in order to give my family- generations of us- a brighter, safer, more prosperous life. Each generation has had a little more than the one before- more stability, more security, a path out of poverty and an abundance of hope, faith and love. I give thanks to my great grandparents for their sacrifices, not to mention my grandparents, my parents and all of my relatives on both sides of my family (maternal and paternal) who continued to move across borders to feed and support their/our family. I honor them through my life's work. I am privileged to do this work alongside wonderful colleagues, many of whom share this history of migration, as well as with the incredible women we serve and organize with through our mission. May God bless and protect the more than 281 million international migrants worldwide. May we support them through our words and actions. For those of us who come from migrant families, may we speak of this history and sacrifice with pride. Changing the narrative begins with each of us. Image: The Indian Express

DIY hosting might seem like a good idea… until it isn’t. ❌ Hours wasted troubleshooting issues. ❌ Outdated software leaving your site vulnerable. ❌ Slow speeds driving visitors away. Your website is too important to take risks. Switch to Peace of Mind Hosting—fast, secure, and fully managed, so you can focus on growing your business. 🎁 Special limited-time holiday offer: https://lnkd.in/g3Xh-Mt4 [Alt Text: The image shows a woman sitting at a desk in front of a computer. Champion of Inspiring Leaders

"We exists between elections...We exists between the harms, and we are responsible for making the good, and making change. We must insist.... We must insist on holding power, even if it makes us uncomfortable, and even if they tell us it is not ours to hold. We must insist on believing in our own power, and the good change that we have accomplished and the change that will continue to manifest." Stacey Abrams on FB (the video below is just a clip) "Truth and love have been smacked down, so many more times in history...Truth, because it’s often inconvenient, and love because it is vulnerable.    But truth is like gravity, and carbon, and the sun behind an eclipse: it’s still there. And love stays alive if you tend it like a flame." Barbara Kingslover on FB Each day I rise to LOVE again. LOVE: Living Our Values Everyday! #leadership #WeMustInsist #money #CultureOfMoney

Waking up this morning. And holding on tight to this Maya Angelou quote. We can’t control all of the events that happen to us. Losing our job. Being stuck in a toxic workplace. Losing a loved one. Being cut off by “a friend.” Losing hope about the future. And we can process together. And we can grieve together. And we can heal together. And we can slowly move forward together. We can’t control all of the events that happen to us. But we can decide not to be reduced by them. #inclusion #culture #leadership #MitaMallick Image credit: Danielle Coke Balfour ☻ Love her images so much. Bringing me a glimmer of joy today.

Sharing this because it's crucial for the Kansas City Art Institute to take responsibility and ensure that all staff and students feel safe, particularly in light of the rising antisemitism. It's time to prioritize education and accountability to protect the well-being of everyone in the community. #dei #deimatters #kansascity #accountability #studentsafety

I quit my teaching job recently. This is why. -- I debated sharing this story here. Yet, after the immense response I got on other more personal platforms, I decided to go ahead and do so. This is important. And ... when the granddaughter of a well-known local Holocaust survivor encourages you to do so, you listen. Note: this was written 10/17/24. Folks, whether you're with a school, company, organization, or the like, I implore you: Do Better. -- To the students who wanted to enroll in my class next semester, I am truly sorry. If you have any questions, feel free to DM. I wish you all the best. 💜 #SpeakYourTruth #TellYourStories #StandUpToJewishHate #🟦

Celebrating Culture and Storytelling Through Día de los Muertos As a proud Mexican-American, I wanted to share something deeply personal—Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. Although, other Catholic countries around the world also honor the deceased called All Saints Day (Nov. 1st). This year is particularly special for me, as it’s my first time fully practicing this tradition and sharing it with my child. It’s a beautiful way to honor loved ones who have passed, not with sorrow but with joy, through altars (ofrendas), marigolds, photos, and favorite foods. For me, this celebration is a reminder of the importance of preserving stories, much like I do in my work with brands and businesses. Our heritage, values, and memories shape who we are and how we tell our stories—both in life and in business. If you're in Kansas City, check out these local Día de los Muertos events: I'll place the following links to the celebrations in the comments. - Guadalupe Centers Celebration – Nov 1 - Mattie Rhodes Center Calaca Procession – Nov 1 - Día de los Muertos on Central Ave (CENTRAL AVENUE BETTERMENT ASSOCIATION) – Nov 2 - The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Festival – Nov 3 Are you planning to attend any of these events? Let me know in the comments. Learn more about the cultural significance of this tradition with these great resources: - The Mexican Museum - History.com - PBS Voices: American Historia Let’s connect over how your brand’s legacy can be celebrated just as thoughtfully. I'm here to help you tell your story with intention and heart. I left $15,000 on the table all because I was afraid to self-advocate and didn't know how to negotiate. I was taught to be grateful so I just accepted it, even though deep down I felt I had been wronged. I swore I would never let that happen again. I want you to have the knowledge and resources that I didn't have. #LatinaEqualPayDay has more to do with systemic issues and this is also a great time to impart knowledge, tools, and resources. That's why I am sharing mine. If you want the PDF version of this, let me know and I'll send it your way! #LatinaLeaders #Trabajadoras #CloseTheGap
