Black Friday has come and gone, and what a whirlwind it was! With data from our MPG Partner Pacvue, here are some highlights that should have every marketer leaning in: ✅ Black Friday ad spend hit the gas—Pacvue saw spend increase 162% WoW leading into Black Friday. Once the deals launched, Black Friday CPCs jumped nearly 10% YoY, reflecting fierce competition for high-intent shoppers. ✅ More investment in Amazon DSP—Advertisers were thinking big picture with upper funnel strategies. DSP spend shot up by 28% YOY, and we’re betting this trend sticks around. ✅ Sponsored brands stole the spotlight—With a 6.5% increase in CTR vs. 2023, this ad format proved its worth the higher avg. CPC ($2.55 vs. $1.80 for Sponsored Products). ✅ Health & Household was the MVP—This category had a 33% conversion rate as Black Friday’s strongest category performer, says early data! ✅ More “aisles” from Amazon—Amazon’s home page featured more “aisles” for shopping and themed deal grouping, disrupting the endless scroll and grabbing shoppers’ attention. ✅ AI-powered shopping—With 2 in 5 shoppers reportedly using AI for their holiday purchases (think Adobe), tools like Amazon’s Rufus stepped up, blending SEO-driven picks and creatively curated options for top-of-funnel searches. ✅ Smarter targeting meets shopper convenience—Amazon’s deals page added widgets tailored to pass shopping habits, with sections like, “Continue shopping for you.” The dynamics of major shopping events continue to evolve as shoppers adopt new tech, platforms refine targeting strategies, and advertisers innovate to stay competitive. Walmart surpassed Q3 earnings and revenue expectations this morning, with good news across the board.
