This week, for National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, we want to shed light on a critical issue impacting millions across the country. Hunger and homelessness are more than statistics—they’re stories of resilience, hardship, and hope. - 47 million Americans experience food insecurity annually - 580,000 Americans are homeless on a typical night Together we can help and are so proud of all our teams who routinely give back to those in their local communities facing food insecurity and homelessness. Every action, big or small, creates ripples of change. Today is World Homeless Day 🌍 A day when we can come together to raise awareness of homelessness, globally, and in our communities. Every October, we promote World Homeless Day (as part of World Homeless Week) with the goal of spreading awareness and empowering each of us to take action. It is a time to reflect on the challenges individuals and families face without a stable place to call home. A challenge faced by over 300,000 people in England alone. Our guide ‘How to Help Homeless People’ is available to download now, offering practical tips and advice on how to get involved and make a positive impact on the lives of homeless people. Supporting Homelessness Week: ADC’s Commitment to Change This Homelessness Week 2024, we want to shine a light on an issue that impacts over 120,000 Australians every night. While many of us take for granted having a roof over our heads, countless individuals and families face the harsh reality of homelessness, with nearly a quarter being children. At ADC, we believe in using our resources and influence to drive meaningful change. That’s why we are proud to partner with Homes for Homes and committing a portion of our development project revenue to combatting homelessness and delivering homes to those in need. Together, we are working to transform lives and create a future where everyone has a place to call home. We encourage you to join us in supporting this vital cause. Let’s spare a thought for those struggling and take action to change these statistics. Every effort counts, and together, we can make a difference. Homelessness Week: Let's Make a Difference! This Homelessness Week, we are highlighting the challenges faced by families with children without stable housing. With a shortage of short-term accommodation and affordable rentals in our community, many families are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. What’s Happening? The lack of housing options is putting extra strain on emergency services and community resources. How is Anglicare NQ Helping? • Advocacy: Advocating for more funding and policy changes. • Innovation: Innovating services, how we respond to crisis in the community, and exploring alternative housing solutions. • Services: Supporting clients in finding and accessing housing resources. Together, we can work towards a future where everyone has a safe place to call home. #HomelessnessWeek #Homesforkids #HousingForAll #CommunitySupport

Each year Homelessness Australia set a theme for Homelessness Week and this year it is ** Homelessness Action Now ** In the lead up to finalising our events program for Homelessness Week 2024, we have been considering what this theme could mean and how we can collectively and collaboratively create action. We also encourage our sector peers and allies to consider the same moving forward. Also, if you are a homelessness service provider in Western Australia and you are considering applying for funding for a Homelessness Week event, project or initiative through our Grant Program this year, keep this years theme in mind when defining your concept and vision for what you wish to host or collaborate with others to host. It's an important question to consider. #HomelessnessWeek #HomelessnessWeek2024 #HomelessnessWeekWA #HomelessnessWeekFunding #HomelessnessWeekGrantProgram

11/23 6:15 pm PST update: Issaquah still without power n r freezing cold on our mountain. 4+ days. Monday, 11/25 for power restoration is our current eta. Imagine Housing - who owns and oversees Rosecrest Apts. along with other low income housing properties throughout East King County, touts their commitment to keep their tenants housed, stable n safe, and for tenants to always reach out in emergency situations. Notta word from them during this devastating Bomb Cyclone that recently hit their multiple properties. Yet they are still somehow able to actively promote their 'community efforts and contributions' during this time. Um, to whom? Imagine Housing continues to neglect/ignore their properties/tenants who reach out in dire need. Past and present. Most importantly, COVID. And now THIS.
This Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, join the movement to end hunger and homelessness! We believe that communities are stronger when everyone has a place to call home. Community support is vital to accomplish our mission, build more housing, and serve people in need. As the Executive Director of The Salvation Army Great Lakes Harbor Light System, I witness the heartbreaking reality of homelessness every day. These are real people—people who are mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters—who’ve lost their homes because they couldn’t afford rent, a medical bill, or survived a violent situation. For many, life’s circumstances became too much to bear, and now they are fighting just to survive. I do what I do because Christ’s love and compassion changed my life and gave me a purpose beyond my own. I believe we are called to care for each other, to love, forgive, and fight for justice for those who have little to no voice. Through God’s grace, I’ve been given a platform to serve, and with over 20 years of ministry experience, I use that platform to advocate for health, housing, education, and justice for our most vulnerable communities. Consider this: - 78% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and that number continues to grow. - 29% of Americans can’t even cover their basic living expenses. - Nearly half of those living paycheck to paycheck have less than $2,000 in savings. One illness, one accident, one missed paycheck is all it takes for so many to lose their home. Homelessness isn’t a distant reality; it’s a struggle that could touch any of us. But there is hope. Together, through compassion, community, and action, we can make a difference. Before you scroll past, ask yourself: What if it were you? #EndHomelessness #ChampionForTheVoiceless #FaithInAction #SupportOurCommunities #LoveLikeChrist #DoingTheMostGood
It's easy to discuss the issue of homelessness as something abstract, but when we consider that the people affected are individuals with stories and lives just like our own, it becomes deeply personal. Asking "What if it were me?" brings the issue closer to home, emphasizing that circumstances can change in an instant for any of us. This shift from seeing homelessness as an issue to realizing it's about people—friends, neighbors, ourselves—can ignite empathy and action. How would you want others to respond if you were the person in need? #WorldHomelessDay #StarGospelMission #EverybodyDeservesAHome #BrighterTogether #CharlestonSC #FaithInAction #EndHomelessness #TransformingHeartsAndLives #SGMCares #HousingForAll

In 2021, we committed to a transformation of our homelessness response system. We aligned investments to focus on reducing unsheltered homelessness. Together, the All Neighbors Coalition has reduced unsheltered homelessness by 24% since that system transformation began. Our next big milestone is a 50% reduction in unsheltered homelessness as compared to 2021 levels. If we stay the course with continued public and private investments in proven strategies for housing and support services, we can reach this goal by 2026. Together, we will make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in Dallas and Collin counties! #endhomelessness #Housingforward #allneighborscoalition
