November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to recognize and support family members who provide necessary care for loved ones. Several researchers within our college have dedicated their careers to learning about how to best support caregivers. We invited a few of them to reflect on what they've learned and how the rest of us can help look out for the caregivers in our own lives. https://lnkd.in/gMRCup9T

I enjoyed celebrating the past and present Marquette faculty members who were recognized at this year's Delta Gamma at-Large Awards Banquet. Congratulations to: Dr. Margaret Callahan (not pictured), dean emerita and acting provost emerita, for receiving the Living Legend Award. Dr. Jennie Peters DNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC, APNP, CNE, clinical professor, for receiving the Nurse Educator of the Year Award. Dr. Lisa Thiemann, former professor and NAEP program director at Marquette and current Chair of Academic Nursing at Wake Forest University, for receiving Nurse Administrator of the Year. All three of them embody Marquette Nursing's mission to put courage and care into action.

I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Dr. Kimo Ah Yun during both his time as provost and acting president. He is a true servant leader. Our college and our university will be very well-served with him as our new president. Congratulations to Dr. Ah Yun!

Dr. Kimo Ah Yun was unanimously elected the 25th president of Marquette University by the Marquette Board of Trustees at a special board meeting. Dr. Ah Yun, who has served in the dual acting president and provost roles since June 10, succeeds Dr. Michael R. Lovell, who led the university as its first lay president from 2014 until his death on June 9, 2024, from sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

I'm greatly enjoying #GSA2024 in Seattle! I always find this meeting to be inspiring and rejuvenating. I look forward to it every year. Today I presented two posters: one project focused on educating students about referring dementia family caregivers to community resources, and the other project educated students about advance care planning. Fortunately, the two posters were only 15 feet apart from one another so I could easily split my time. 🤣

Fighting for health care equity is one of the hallmarks of a Marquette Nurse. Dr. Karen Robinson, PhD, RN, CNM, FACNM, assistant dean of graduate programs, has put that mission into practice.
