Our Youth Apprentices, Michelle and Grace, worked hard to create all of the elements of our Gingerbread Land decorations back in July. Today they got to put everything up with assistance from Jim Benson, Energy & Water Conservation Coordinator! It's GIS Day! Geographic information system(s), GIS GIS is a technology that is used to create, manage, analyze, and map all types of data. GIS connects data to a map, integrating location data (where things are) with all descriptive information (what things are like there). GIS provides a foundation for mapping and analysis that we use daily at MU, as well as locations of electric and water equipment, AMI meters, and our outage map. MU staff volunteered this past Thursday at Marshfield Area United Way. They helped pack lunched for the Nutrition On Weekends (N.O.W.) program. 580 lunches go out every week and each year the need for this program increases. We kicked off our United Way Campaign with an Inflatables Derby. Each department had a racer and staff could sponsor their favorite racer(s). Each racer had to navigate six stations; ring toss, balance a notepad on the head, Bag-o-toss, blind fold maze, stack a pyramid of cups, spoon-ping pong ball carry, and put together a 16-piece puzzle before dashing to the finish line. Congratulations to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners; John, Jenni, and Nate! Jessica, Kyle, and Melissa joined the Trauma Department Team to spread some Halloween joy to the young patients at the Marshfield Clinic that are unable to go out trick-or-treating. MU staff volunteered for fall clean up of the Monarch/Rain Garden at Griese Park today. There was a lot of growth to cut back and a bit of fence repair to give it a good start in the spring. This garden was started by MU in 2019 as part of a Monarch Conservation Project to preserve and enhance pollinator habitats.
