Making reforestation scalable.
About us
Mast Reforestation is a climate tech company with a mission to make reforestation scalable. As bigger, hotter, and more frequent fires increasingly destroy forested land each year, Mast facilitates faster, more resilient forest regeneration. Mast provides vertically integrated reforestation services to get forest restoration projects up and running in weeks, not years. Services include seed collection, seedling cultivation, site preparation, seedling hand planting, aerial drone-based seeding, and ongoing site monitoring. To fund its projects and open new revenue streams for landowners, Mast sells carbon removal credits that allow companies seeking positive climate action to invest in reforestation projects for 200 years or more. Mast’s investors include Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six, Social Capital, DBL Partners, Marc Benioff’s TIME Ventures, Elemental Excelerator, and more. To learn more, visit MastReforest.com.

Forests have an incredible ability to regenerate, acting as their own nurseries by supplying the seeds needed for new growth. But that natural process is breaking down as wildfires intensify. Blazes are not only destroying millions of acres of forests but also the seeds they need to regrow. Without enough seeds, reforestation simply can’t happen. In fact, meeting today’s reforestation needs requires six times more seed availability—a challenge made even harder by the fact that many conifers only produce seeds every few years. At Mast, we’re tackling this head-on. We’ve built the largest seed bank in the Western U.S., tripling availability for wildfire-impacted landscapes. By combining innovative seed collection techniques with advanced inventory management, we’re ensuring the next generation of forests has the genetic diversity to thrive. Restoring forests starts with seed. See how we're scaling reforestation through our restorative carbon removal credits: https://lnkd.in/daPVKJve

Wildfires are burning hotter than ever, and forests aren’t recovering on their own. In 2024, wildfires scorched over 8 million acres in the U.S.—an area roughly the size of Maryland. These fires don’t just destroy trees; they also wipe out the seeds necessary for natural regeneration. Forests that once rebounded on their own are now struggling, creating a reforestation gap that could take 50 years to close at the current pace. At Mast, we’re addressing this challenge head-on. By scaling seed supply, expanding nursery capacity, and leveraging carbon market funding, we’re accelerating forest restoration on severely burned landscapes. Our efforts enable forests to recover faster and more robustly than ever before. To date, we’ve planted millions of seedlings and restored thousands of acres. The forests we restore today will protect our climate, water, and air for generations to come. 🌱The native seedlings we grow are the linchpin of our wildfire restoration projects and a core part of how we’re closing the reforestation gap across the West. Our work in California is no exception. With 635 million seedlings needed to restore California’s burned forests, there couldn’t be a more impactful time for California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to select our nursery, Cal Forest Nurseries, as a 2024 grant recipient! We’re thrilled to share that this funding has already supercharged our operations, supporting the collection and processing of enough seed to grow 100M seedlings. That would be enough to reforest over 300K acres, an area nearly the size of LA. With this grant, we’re able to act quickly and efficiently to supply native seedlings to landowners impacted by severe wildfire and restore ecosystems across the Western U.S. that are unlikely to recover without our help. 📺 Tune in the story by @ KDRV-TV | KDKF-TV: https://lnkd.in/d3j_68wW Learn how you can help, too 👉https://lnkd.in/dKzzi7jK
