At Mehri & Skalet, PLLC, we are deeply committed to amplifying the voices of whistleblowers like Brad Keever who courageously uncover fraud and abuse. A recent story by KING 5 Media Group (Seattle) highlights allegations of a timecard fraud scheme at the Hanford nuclear cleanup site, potentially involving millions of taxpayer dollars. Mehri & Skalet is proud to work on this case alongside our colleagues at SMITH & LOWNEY, PLLC and HANFORD CHALLENGE. We are grateful for the hard work and expertise of government colleagues at DOE-OIG and the United States Attorneys' Offices for the Eastern District of Washington who have intervened in Mr. Keever’s False Claims Act case. If you or someone you know is aware of fraud, waste, or abuse, we’re here to help navigate the complex legal landscape and protect whistleblowers’ rights. Together, we can ensure that justice and integrity prevail. 🔗 See the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ekv5mbuT #Whistleblower #FraudPrevention #Accountability #PublicIntegrity

A leading class action law firm. Advancing justice, achieving results since 2001.
About us
Mehri & Skalet, PLLC is a Washington, DC-based complex litigation firm with national reach. Using class action lawsuits we achieve results for our clients while correcting injustices in the workplace and marketplace. Our lawyers have won substantial victories against powerful corporations such as The Coca-Cola Company, Texaco, and Morgan Stanley, making a positive and lasting impact on American society. Proactively seeking solutions, Mehri & Skalet has created special projects addressing major issues in corporate America: the Voices for Corporate Responsibility project is a voice for senior managers exposing corporate fraud; the Women on Wall Street project remedies the pay disparity of women in financial services; and the Madison Avenue Project corrects underrepresentation of minority voices in advertising. Firm founder and partner Cyrus Mehri has also advocated increasing the diversity of the coaching and executive ranks of sports organizations and was a key force behind the adoption of the NFL’s “Rooney Rule.” The New York Times accurately described M&S when they said our “vision for corporate America involves sweeping change, not the piecemeal kind.”

On the eve of Election Day, we at Mehri & Skalet, PLLC want to recognize the power of the vote. This is your chance to shape the future of our country. Retired U.S. District Judge U.W. Clemon – who works with us as Of Counsel – recently received the Putting People First Award from the city of Birmingham, Alabama. In his remarks, he reminded us that we “must remain dedicated to the power of the vote, because it will set you free.” Our democracy is stronger when a diverse and informed electorate has the access and power to vote. At Mehri & Skalet, we’re proud to support efforts to keep our democratic process open and fair. Together, we can answer Judge Clemon’s call to action and strive to form a more perfect union. Remember: your vote is your voice. Let’s make it count! #VotingRights #JudgeClemon #Election2024 #MehriAndSkalet #JusticeMatters https://lnkd.in/ey-B3g4n

A recent The Washington Post article tells the story of a CIA Analyst who triggered Trump’s first impeachment. The analyst – among others in the White House and across several agencies – engaged in one of the most consequential acts of whistleblowing in American history. Thanks to their honor and bravery, serious wrongdoing was revealed at the highest levels of government. But as the analyst came to understand, blowing the whistle was not enough. Not only did the misconduct he reported not get punished -- a fact that was seemingly reinforced by the Supreme Court’s ruling that U.S. Presidents are immune from criminal prosecution for crimes committed while engaged in official duties -- but he suffered severe retaliation as a result. The analyst's experience highlights just how thankless, lonely, and sometimes dangerous, whistleblowing can be. We must do a far better job of incentivizing and protecting courageous whistleblowers in the public sector, who can shine a light on waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption within our Government. The continued strength of our democracy depends on it. Mehri & Skalet, PLLC understands the challenges faced by whistleblowers. We do our best to fully inform whistleblowers about those challenges and help them every step of the way. #Whistleblower #Democracy #Government https://lnkd.in/en5Qb6mb

At Mehri & Skalet, PLLC, we understand that fostering a diverse and inclusive environment is not just a moral obligation—it’s a vital strategy for a strong democracy and resilient businesses. That is why managing partner Cyrus Mehri penned an article for Fast Company about the importance of DEI beyond the workplace and how it significantly impacts democracy and society as a whole. Using Fareed Zakaria's framework of opened v. closed societies, Mr. Mehri recommends three key reforms for DEI advocates and companies. 🌎 Open up promotions to fair competition and more transparency, replacing the ‘tap on the shoulder” approach. ⚖️ Utilizing diverse slates, such as that of the Rooney Rule, to spur equity and innovation, and; 📊 Making DEI data more transparent, such as by using racial equity assessments. #DEI #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #MehriAndSkalet #SocialJustice #BusinessStrategy Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/eHr_V2BX

Pregnancy discrimination at work is against law. Plain and simple. A few years ago Mehri & Skalet, PLLC represented pregnant workers in a class action lawsuit against Walmart who fought for accommodations at work that were provided to other workers. Our team included lawyers from the National Women's Law Center and A Better Balance. We resolved that case for thousands of women for $14 million. At M&S, we are disappointed that Walmart appears to be failing to follow the law again. https://lnkd.in/dYaMfJpS

In response to Tyreek Hill's detainment before Sunday’s Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium game, the Fritz Pollard Alliance issued a statement: “Thankfully, on this occasion, nobody was seriously hurt. Were Hill, Campbell, and Smith not ultimately recognized as NFL players, the outcome may have been dire. It is our prayer that interactions with police across society will continue to improve and not escalate… The Fritz Pollard Alliance calls on the Miami-Dade Police Department to reassess its standard operating procedures with respect to both traffic stops and engaging with bystanders. Failing to do so invites a repeat of what occurred Sunday morning with potentially more tragic consequences.” The news of Tyreek Hill’s detainment shook the core of millions across the country who witness countless instances where police officers unfairly treat people of color. We commend the Fritz Pollard Alliance for using its platform to advocate and defend the rights of NFL players and American citizens. #NFL #TyreekHill #PoliceRelations #Justice Read the full statement: https://lnkd.in/eWdGtH7J
