What happens when science leads the way in design? At Merrick, our Science & Technology team is made up of scientists, global health and biorisk management experts, veterinarians, and lab operators who’ve spent years in the spaces they now help create. This hands-on experience gives us a unique perspective, shaping facilities that align with the flow of research. By blending scientific expertise with practical design, we create spaces that meet the needs of researchers, advance their missions, and remove barriers to discovery. #wearemerrick

Building spacecraft for exploration and the space economy is only part of the story. Designing the infrastructure that supports them? That’s where it gets interesting—and a whole new set of challenges comes into play. This is because spaceports today are being asked to do more than ever. They need to handle a wide range of spacecraft processing and launch vehicles, each with its own requirements for size, fuel, and landing methods. The challenge lies in balancing these evolving needs while still ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability. At Merrick, we take a systems-level approach to aerospace infrastructure. From reconfigurable launch towers to multi-fuel umbilicals, we design flexible frameworks that align spaceports with the fast-changing world of launch vehicles. The result? Infrastructure ready to meet today’s demands while preparing for tomorrow’s aerospace possibilities. #WeAreMerrick

Before a spacecraft is ready for launch, it must go through a meticulous preparation process. These preparations require environments as precise as their engineering, with every step fine-tuned to ensure nothing is left to chance. Merrick’s payload processing facility designs ensure every intricacy. Airlocks with advanced filtration keep contaminants out. Shielded enclosures protect sensitive operations, even in shared spaces. And workflows are optimized for efficiency to reduce delays in an industry where timing is everything. It’s this level of care and precision that help missions succeed before the countdown even begins. #wearemerrick

Eli’s journey from 2024 intern to full-time mechanical facilities engineer is a great example of the talent and passion fostered through Merrick’s annual summer internship program. During his internship with our nuclear team, Eli worked on critical tasks like designing glovebox ventilation systems. Now, as a full-time employee, he’s applying his skills to simulate heat loads, analyze shell temperatures, and support projects that advance nuclear energy and national security. Eli credits the smooth transition from intern to employee to his team’s unwavering support and mentorship, and when he’s not tackling complex engineering challenges, he enjoys working out, spending time with his dog, and taking on home improvement projects. #merrickcareers

The next chapter of clean energy is currently being written, and it involves a very special material called HALEU—high-assay low-enriched uranium. HALEU will be critical for powering future nuclear reactors, bringing safer, more efficient, and carbon-free energy solutions to our planet. While HALEU is still emerging commercially, Merrick is fully equipped to enter the arena. Our nuclear team combines deep expertise in integrated facility design, an NQA-1 program, and experience with highly complex nuclear projects. We’re uniquely positioned to help build the HALEU supply chain from the ground up—ensuring advanced reactors have the fuel they need to power a cleaner energy future. Follow along as we continue exploring HALEU opportunities and play our part in shaping the future of nuclear energy. #wearemerrick
