🖼️👁️ Discover It's Possible to See Without Sight, A Multi-Sensory Pop-Up Art Experience. This interactive exhibition features tactile, multi-sensory paintings created by the participants of our Miami Lighthouse SGA program, on view now through August 30th at the Miami Dade Main Library. The exhibit features scannable QR codes at the bottom of each painting for an immersive experience. Simply scan the QR codes to hear a description of the inspiration behind each artists' incredible piece. Don't miss this unique opportunity to explore art beyond sight! #MDPLS is thrilled and proud to win a 2024 Best in Category achievement award from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for our efforts in creating autism-friendly spaces in our libraries! Library Director Ray Baker joined Miami-Dade County Commissioners Kionne McGhee, Eileen Higgins and Juan Carlos Bermudez to accept the award at the NACo Awards luncheon. The Library created autism-friendly spaces through Autism Spectrum Disorder and Strategies for Inclusivity training for all staff, creating custom social narratives for each of our library locations, expanding sensory-friendly programs and designating sensory-friendly spaces within our libraries, creating a supportive and comfortable experience for everyone.

Meet Sandra Moros, Library Assistant III of the Civic Center Porta Kiosk at the Civic Center Metrorail station. Miami-Dade Public Library System opened this branch on January 15, 1992 with Sandra being one of original staff working the kiosk for 32 years, welcoming more than 12,000 visitors annually. Happy National Library Week and thank you for your service and being an avid Metrobus and Metrorail rider, Sandra.
