This month focus on our project partner EUROCONTROL: EUROCONTROL is a pan-European, civil-military organisation dedicated to supporting European aviation. The organisation was founded in 1963 and currently counts 41 European Member States and 2 Comprehensive agreement States from outside Europe. The organisation’s raison d’être is to support European aviation by delivering technical excellence and civil-military expertise across the full spectrum of air traffic management. The specific activities touch on operations, service provision, concept development, research, Europe-wide project implementation, performance improvements, coordination with key aviation players at various levels as well as providing support to the future evolution and strategic orientations of aviation. As the Network Manager (NM), EUROCONTROL develops and operates the air traffic management (ATM) network in Europe and beyond. With our comprehensive picture of the ATM network and unique in-depth expertise, we work to ensure the safe and smooth flow of traffic and address performance challenges strategically, operationally and technically. Our 20+ years of expertise in centralised flow management allows us to efficiently and safely forecast, plan and coordinate the safe operation of flights. Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) infrastructure, and the radio spectrum they require, are the foundation of the aviation operational performance, enabling airspace capacity. At EUROCONTROL, we work to enhance the resilience of the CNS infrastructure to deliver safe, secure, predictable, efficient and sustainable operations that improve the European’s network performance. Our integrated performance–based approach to CNS combines satellite, ground and airborne solutions that can deliver resilient CNS aviation solutions at reduced cost. As one of the SJU’s founding members, EUROCONTROL has been supporting SESAR research and innovation since 2007, playing a leading role in developing and delivering new or improved technologies and procedures to make European aviation smarter and more sustainable. With the establishment of the SESAR 3 JU in November 2021, EUROCONTROL committed up to €500 million in in-kind contributions and additional activities, as well as providing programme management, administrative and back office support, including hosting the partnership at its headquarters in Brussels. The wide range of activities in the Agency’s portfolio are enabled by more than 2000 officials and a yearly budget of over 1 billion EUR.

This month partner introduction: ENAIRE ENAIRE is the air navigation service provider in Spain. As a company of the Ministry of Sustainable Transport and Mobility, it provides en route control services for all flights and overflights from five control centres in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Gran Canaria and Palma, as well as approach services to every airport in the country. In addition, 46 airports receive communication, navigation and surveillance services from ENAIRE, which also maintains their air traffic control systems, and 21 of them, including the country's busiest airports, rely on its aerodrome air traffic control services. ENAIRE is Europe's fourth largest air traffic manager and participates in the A6 Alliance, a coalition of air navigation providers responsible for over 80% of European air traffic, and which is seeking to modernise the air traffic management system. It is also a member of other international alliances promoting the Single European sky, such as SESAR Joint Undertaking, SESAR Deployment Manager, iTEC, CANSO and ICAO. ENAIRE, as the responsible agency identified by the Ministry of Sustainable Transport and Mobility to implement the U-Space system in Spain, will, through its digital platform, provide the Common Information Services (CIS), which are essential to facilitate U-space services to drones and Urban Air Mobility in cooperation with local air traffic services, so that all types of aircraft can fly safely in the same airspace. ENAIRE has received the highest score in Europe on the aviation safety key performance indicator for four years in a row, and it now boasts the ESQM 600 seal, the result of its safe, efficient, innovative and sustainable management of air navigation services.

At Airspace World 2024, we had an unprecedented number of ANSPs present. 🙌 In addition, the C-level participation from ANSPs was above expectations and demonstrated the importance of this event globally. As the only place where senior ANSP delegations gather with newer market entrants, innovators and technologists, this event is the catalyst for conversations that actually make a difference. It was particularly significant to see so many discussions this year around embracing, embedding and encouraging uncrewed aviation, UTM, AAM, and so much more. 🫶 ANSP exhibitors included Airways International ┃ Civil Aviation Authority of SingaporeENAIREENAVNATSNAV CANADAskyguide, and TANZANIA CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY(TCAA) to name just a few! 👉 Find out more about exhibiting at Airspace World 2025: https://bit.ly/45gktaf #AviationLeaders #AviationInnovation #FutureOfFlight #AirspaceInnovation #AviationTech #IndustryCatalyst #GlobalAviation
