  • We are kicking off our annual "Bring on the Butter" fundraiser today! As you've seen in recent media coverage, times are challenging for smaller independent cinemas. It is a struggle with high operations costs, box office numbers being down (writer's strike), maintenance issues, etc. Although we are getting by, it's not enough to support the Milford Independent Cinema, a 501c3 non-profit. Independent cinemas are more than just places to watch movies—they’re vital community hubs that unite people! Here’s why they’re so important: Supporting Local Art & Culture: We showcase indie films, local talent, and unique stories that larger chains often overlook. Community Connections: We create spaces for neighbors to gather, spark conversations, and build relationships. Economic Impact: Independent cinemas support local economies by partnering with nearby businesses and other non-profits. Preserving History: Many small theaters are landmarks and preserve the charm and character of their communities. Please consider supporting the arts in your year-end giving. We have set a goal of $15k. Any amount, big or small helps to keep our special independent cinema open. Remember, all donations are tax-deductible. Donate Now @ https://shorturl.at/Tg0K0 Thank you for your continued support and care. #milfordmi #bringonthebutterfundraiser

  • The Detroit Free Press did a great piece about the current state of Independent Cinemas and Art Houses in Michigan. Rising costs, competition from streaming services and the various writer strikes are kaing it harder and harder to keep the doors open. We look for creative ways to bring our customers programming that they want to see on the big screen - sometimes that's first run and sometiems it's classics like our Grease Sing-a-long! We're grateful to have a wonderful all-volunteer board that keeps this cinema running smoothly. And without the continued support from the community and our sponsors, we might have been one of the casualties. How can you help us or your local cinema? Become a member. Buy a gift card. Sponsor a film. Rent the cinema.

  • Are you looking to get involved with a great organization and have a knack for networking? We are on the lookout for a new Board Member to join our cinema family! Position: Board Member Experience Needed: Advertising & Sponsorship Savvy Essential Qualities: Outgoing, People Person As a Board Member, you'll be at the forefront of our cinema's success, helping us bring the magic of movies to our community while forging partnerships that make dreams flicker to life on the big screen! Drop us a line if you're ready to shine! 🎥 Let's make movie magic together! 🍿 #CinemaBoardSearch #LightsCameraAction #JoinTheTeam

  • We've are honored to be selected as part of a film tour at small independent cinemas throughout Michigan to showcase the Marqueetown - directed by Joseph Beyer and Jordan Anderson - on Saturday, April 13, 2024. No one fights to preserve a multiplex, but some people will risk everything to save a marquee. Through booms and busts, Delft Theatres Inc. - and its innovative gem, The Nordic - endured in Marquette for almost 100 years, even as the world changed endlessly around them. Local kid Bernie Rosendahl’s modern crusade to restore the historic arthouse to its former glory leads filmmakers to discover a hidden cinema empire in the Upper Peninsula. Portraying the fascinating history of motion pictures through one iconic screen - and featuring dozens of real-life Marquette locations and characters - Marqueetown is the true story of chasing your dreams, redefining failure and success, and reembracing the enduring magic of movies. Q&A with the cast, crew and subjects involved in the project following each screening. Made over the past year with local involvement from Superior View Photography, Marquette Regional History Center, Peter White Public Library, Vierling Restaurant, Flagstar National Bank, Landmark Inn, Airbnb Hosts, and Remie’s. Special support has come from The Delft Bistro and The Honorable Distillery, central locations in the film. 100% of the ticket sales are benefiting the MIC The cast and crew will be in attendance #marqueetown #independentcinemas #themic #SpecialScreening
