Inspiring Change in Youth Mental Health: Meet Sarah Shelke from USA
At just 12, Sarah Shelke recognized the profound inequalities in mental health access for young people. Following a personal tragedy, she set out to tackle these challenges head-on. Today, Sarah leads Mind4Youth, a nonprofit she founded to make mental health resources accessible to marginalized children and youth. Under her guidance, Mind4Youth has grown into one of the largest youth-led mental health organizations globally, with over 9,800 members across 15 chapters, impacting 1.6 million youth in 40+ countries.
Sarah’s achievements include authoring A Guide to Teen Mental Health, aiming to reach 30,000 young adults, and exploring partnerships to bring Mind4Youth to 52,000 schools across the U.S. Her work empowers young people to lead change, both in mental health and beyond, building a global movement driven by resilience and purpose.
Sarah’s story is a testament to the power of youth-led action in addressing systemic barriers and creating lasting impact.
