  • TONIGHT at 7 we have our latest showcase of MSc Graduates sharing their research with us at our forum. Please do join us by clicking through the link below. We will be hearing from two graduates of the Masters programme, Susanne Olbrich and Jacky Seery and who will give short presentations on their research followed by the opportunity for questions. Susanne’s thesis focused on the effects of mindfulness practice on musical creativity, finding benefits for individual and community music practice. Jacky’s research documented the journey of a group of unpaid carers as they undertook a 10-week course of mindfulness, compassion and Qigong (MCQC). The forum will be facilitated by Dr Jane Kellock. https://lnkd.in/evpdegsE Did you know you can study a Masters in Mindfuness (MSc Studies in Mindfulness with the University of Aberdeen) online? Our experiential course brings mindfulness and compassion into your own professional context, benefitting not only you, but also society on many levels, both personally and professionally.

  • In her blog this week, Fay Adams shares about how we might find some peace and inspiration when we learn to turn our attention to our own life as it is right now, and to the moments we have... as we have them. Mindfulness offers us a way to shift our focus to these day-to-day experiences, where we not only find more joy but also develop a profound appreciation for life itself... the extraordinary often resides within the ordinary, waiting to be noticed. These bright moments are always present, hiding in plain sight in a rainy day, the fresh air in the car park, reflections at the kitchen sink... • It’s not just the people who live in the city who’ve lost the thread that ties them to the woven world of stones and earth, fields alive with pollen and wings../ Kristine has chosen - In Praise of Hands by Stuart Kestenbaum this week for her Words of Wonder. To read the full poem and Kristine's contemplation please click through the link. * * * * * * * I love the deep connectedness that this poem by the poet Stuart Kestenbaum invites us to remember, the images of the eons contained in an empty bowl, the sky that has witnessed everything since time began, reflected in the water. That sense of timeless hugeness – and then me, in this moment on the beach with cold hands and a runny nose. The wonder of this moment existing in the endless stream of other moments, so totally insignificant in the bigness of time and space and yet – we can drink and be blessed, right here and now... https://lnkd.in/dgd3ChyC

  • Josetta (They/Them) is looking for participants for their doctoral research on Race and Trans and Nonbinary Inclusion in Mindfulness. Here's Josetta: ( to read Josetta's full blog please click through). "I am loving my PhD journey; the learning, (reading, research and attending workshops, conferences and seminars), sense of purpose and community. I’ve also just been tremendously buoyed up by a confidence-boosting First Progress Review, which was not only successfully passed but promoted the narrowing of scope. So, now I begin my 3rd year of doctoral studies with my application to the ethics committee for approval to launch an online survey, followed by focus groups and interviews with current and potential mindfulness practitioners and tutors who are from BPOC and/or TNB communities. I will use my mental health background and group facilitation skills to create a safer space and offer sources of support to all who give their valuable time and energy to this much needed project. The benefits of taking part are to contribute to increasing diversity and inclusion in mindfulness and I will share links and info about free mindfulness resources and classes. And you might enjoy talking about your experiences. Please email me if you have any questions or would like to take part in this study> click through to read more and for the email to participate. https://lnkd.in/epKwvfnW

  • It’s easy to get swept away in December – whether it’s a hectic swirl of activity and preparations for the holidays, or perhaps the converse is true, with the dark and long nights, we might experience feelings of loneliness, or overwhelm. Mindfulness can help us to stay grounded as our minds and bodies experience the continual shift of emotions that pass through us at this time of year. Our December mindfulness calendar offers a supportive prompt each day, inviting us to connect with what’s actually here, in this moment. Through the senses we can become present in the moment and open our awareness to the wonders of the world around us. The greatest gift at this time of year? is the actual present moment – and we get to open it all to ourselves! CLICK THROUGH FOR CALENDAR DOWNLOAD https://lnkd.in/eT2NTyDf We hope you find some support in the calendar this month, and we wish you a peaceful and joyful month.   Don’t forget to join us thoughout the winter weeks for our daily meditations at 10.30am and 7pm every weekday. You'll find the link on our home page.

  • I love the invitation in this poem to both be full of wonder at the big questions, but also to dive into the magic of the here and now – the tea in front of you that’s getting cold. I feel a sense of freedom and celebration, of wholeheartedness in the words of the Tibetan Buddhist teacher Anam Thubten Rinpoche. What if we didn’t have to cling to everything quite as much as we might habitually do, if things were not as much of a big deal? • • • This week Kristine has chosen The Magic of Awareness by Anam Thubten Rinpoche. To read the full poem alongside Kristine's contemplation please click through the link. • • • Wonder, Who has the magic to make the sun appear every morning? Who makes that bird on the elegant tree chirp? Breath, pulse, music, dew, sunset, the burning ambers of the fall.../... ---------------------------------- https://lnkd.in/er-_AQxE
