Mithra Trust reposted this
A discussion on a topic that's never been more relevant than it is now, saw insights from Bhairavi Prakash of Mithra Trust, who spoke on how to be an effective ally and providing mental healthcare for queer and trans folks and Ragamalika Karthikeyan who spoke on journalism and queer mental health, specifically about how inclusive newsrooms really are when it comes to the queer and trans community. The amazing Divya Kandukuri spoke on the intersection of caste and queer identities, and how a straitjacket formulaic approach to inclusivity can never have a positive impact, and Sathiya G. spoke on the current state of the legal field and the challenges that queer and trans folks, both lawyers and litigants alike, face while dealing with the justice delivery system, with the the panel succinctly moderated by Rahel of Mithra Trust, who gave their insights in short and potent bites. This panel was a part of #Manotsava, a National Mental Health Festival organised by NIMHANS, Bangalore in partnership with Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies and National Centre for Biological Sciences. The festival, which was held on the 26th and 27th of October, saw discussions on various topics surrounding mental health and healthcare by professionals and experts from varied fields.
