Coping with Hurricane Trauma: Healing After the Storm Here in St. Petersburg, Florida, we’ve just said goodbye to Hurricane Helene and are now preparing for Hurricane Milton, expected to hit in 72 hours. These storms leave more than physical destruction in their wake. The emotional impact of living through them can be overwhelming—fear of losing your home, worry for loved ones, and the aftermath of displacement. In my latest blog, I explore how trauma manifests after hurricanes and share practical strategies to regain a sense of peace and control, including: 🌪 Acknowledging your feelings 🌪 Talking to someone you trust 🌪 Reestablishing routines for normalcy 🌪 Taking small steps to rebuild 🌪 Practicing mindfulness and stress relief 🌪 Getting involved in your community 🌪 Being patient with your healing journey If you or someone you know is struggling with hurricane trauma, know that you’re not alone.
