The discussion centered around collaboration, upskilling & harnessing the transformative potential of AI to strengthen our industry. Together we explored ways to empower our creative professionals to excel on the global stage, while building a strong foundation for emerging talent in Pakistan. A major highlight? Planning an upcoming bootcamp-style masterclass in April, where Dr Rehan Zia FRPS FRSA will guide mid-career professionals on emerging CGI & VFX technologies. Bringing together the brightest minds in animation, I recently hosted a gathering of local creators and leaders from animation, VFX, and CGI studios at National Aerospace Science & Technology Park (NASTP). I had the privilege of specially inviting Dr Rehan Zia FRPS FRSA, during his visit to Bournemouth University, to share his insights on the global CGI/VFX sector and the opportunities it holds for #Pakistani studios. Together, we engaged in a thought-provoking discussion, brainstorming ways for Pakistani content creators and producers to claim a more significant share of the international market. Our conversations emphasized the immense potential of collaboration, particularly in addressing opportunities that demand scale and expertise—especially in emerging markets like the Middle East. We also explored the transformative role of AI in the industry and the unique challenges smaller studios face in keeping pace with its rapid advancements. A key takeaway from the discussion was the importance of a balanced approach: nurturing a core group of exceptionally skilled professionals to compete globally, while simultaneously equipping thousands of young talents with strong foundational skills in creative technology and the arts. Additionally, we highlighted the need to invest in mid-career professionals by providing upskilling opportunities to meet international standards. The gathering was filled with optimism and hope for the future. As a next step, we plan to engage Dr Rehan Zia FRPS FRSA during his next visit in April to organize a bootcamp-style masterclass focused on emerging CGI and VFX technology frameworks and toolsets for mid-career creative professionals.
