🌎 Building Bridges: MSCAdvocacy's Mission to Mexico 🇲🇽 In November 2024, the MSCAdvocacy team traveled to Mexico to boost awareness and participation in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (#MSCA) programme. Our mission highlighted the untapped potential of MSCA in Mexico and showcased a strong commitment among stakeholders to enhance collaboration. Despite having one of Latin America's most advanced research ecosystems, Mexico remains underrepresented in international initiatives like MSCA. We engaged with key institutions, including: ▶️ Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México ▶️ El Colegio de México ▶️ UAM Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana ▶️ CINVESTAV ▶️ Instituto Politécnico Nacional Our discussions focused on promoting MSCA, sharing implementation strategies, and analyzing recent political developments. There’s a clear interest among Mexican stakeholders to strengthen their internationalisation efforts and create dedicated departments for collaboration with Europe. To maximize engagement with MSCA, we identified the need for better information dissemination among Mexican researchers. This is crucial for integrating Mexico into impactful global research networks. Let’s continue building these vital connections! 🤝 #HorizonEurope #ResearchCollaboration Instituto Nacional de Medicina Genómica Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas A.C. 🌎 Advancing MSCA Opportunities: MSCAdvocacy’s Mission to Chile 🇨🇱 From 4-8 November 2024, MSCAdvocacy embarked on an impactful mission to Santiago de Chile to boost awareness and participation in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (#MSCA) programme. We engaged with key institutions like Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, discussing how MSCA can enhance #ResearchMobility and foster collaboration between Europe and Chile. A recurring theme was the need for targeted training on the MSCA application process. To address this, there is growing interest in organising events that promote MSCA opportunities and connect researchers across borders. Insights from the MSCA National Contact Point (NCP) highlighted local challenges and the necessity for larger-scale information-sharing platforms. We also met with representatives from ANID Chile’s Millennium Program Initiative, focusing on increasing visibility of MSCA opportunities for Chilean researchers. Our discussions with influential research centers like Inria Chile and Fraunhofer Chile explored potential partnerships in agricultural sciences, digital technologies, and innovation. Together, we can create a thriving network of international research partnerships! 🌐✨ #HorizonEurope #ResearchCollaboration Universidad Andrés Bello Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias - INIA Leitat Chile

🌎 MSCAdvocacy recently launched its mission in Canada at the Canada-Europe Partnership Forum in Ottawa, engaging with key stakeholders from the international education sectors of both regions. The forum focused on strengthening Canada-Europe partnerships in higher education, especially following Canada’s recent association with #HorizonEurope Pillar Two. Key discussions highlighted the significant role of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (#MSCA) and other funding opportunities like Erasmus Plus, European Research Council (ERC), and Eureka Network. As Johanna Füllmann, our country liaison officer, stated, “Awareness of Horizon Europe in Canada is skyrocketing, paving the way for closer collaboration between Canadian and EU researchers.” The potential of MSCA as a bottom-up approach for establishing doctoral and postdoctoral networks and staff exchanges is immense. Many larger universities are already recognising this opportunity, particularly through the co-funding mechanism established with Mitacs. Our team has been actively promoting these initiatives through discussions across major cities including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton. A highlight was the reception hosted by the Alberta Bureau for International Education (ABIE) on 4 November in Ottawa, which celebrated Canada’s diverse culinary offerings and featured a traditional hoop dance by an Algonquin dancer—underscoring the importance of indigenous perspectives in research. The event provided MSCAdvocacy with valuable opportunities to indulge with numerous stakeholders in the Canadian science and education sectors. The mission included insightful visits and bilateral talks at various locations, such as the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Art Smith Aero Centre in Calgary, the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), and the University of Alberta International Office in Edmonton. A meeting with aerospace researcher Carlo Antonini, a three-time MSCA grant fellow based in Toronto, underscored that MSCA offers a solid source for scientists to excel in their specific fields of interest, as it is open to all research topics. We look forward to fostering innovation and collaboration between Canadian and European researchers! #ResearchCollaboration #EUfunded
