New insights from the RESCUE-ICAS registry, presented at #SVIN2024 by Dr. Sami Al Kasab, reveal that rescue stenting after mechanical thrombectomy in patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke due to intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) improves reperfusion and 90-day functional independence rates, but also increases procedural complications. This study sheds light on the challenges of treating ICAS-LVO, a condition affecting 10-30% of LVO stroke patients, and highlights the need for tailored approaches in neurointervention.
