Sharpe ratios are useful for measuring risk-adjusted returns, but Nicole Funari explains why they're not as useful when considering REIT sector allocations. If you want to adjust for risk, diversifying is best, she explains; in terms of volatility, the FTSE Nareit All Equity REITs index had a monthly volatility of 17.7% from Dec. 2014 to Dec. 2024, lower than any individual property sector. https://lnkd.in/ewh2F3Yh

The application deadline for the Global Real Estate Leaders Program is 3/1, and this year former NBIM CIO Mie Caroline Holstad will be a new lecturer. Mie Holstad's exclusive session for global real estate leaders will be on 4/10 in London and will also feature Ivo de Wit from Goldman Sachs and Piet Eichholtz from Maastricht Center for Real Estate and the founder of GRESB. This session is just one of many in the program, and Nareit is proud to partner with MIT Center for Real Estate and Maastricht Center for Real Estate (MCRE) to bring this executive education program to #REIT and #CRE professionals who want to create a global network while learning from experts about REIT operations, investment opportunites, and more. Tag or share this post with someone who is a candidate for this program. Nareit members get 20% off tuition and applicants can apply here: https://lnkd.in/eVFBxF2F Juan Francisco Palacios

Nicole Funari offers a deep dive into #CRE ownership, showing real estate holdings across net income, net worth, and race--and how #REITs are bridging the gap; more households access CRE through REITs rather than directly owning it. If you love data, this piece is for you, as it's chock full of great charts and analysis. https://lnkd.in/dYR78S8r

The idea of higher for longer interest rates may be causing concern for CRE investors, but Edward Pierzak shows that historically, #REITs have outperformed private real estate across low, mid, and high interest rate environments.
