About us
Established in 1996, The National Alliance for Caregiving is a non-profit coalition of national organizations focusing on issues of family caregiving. The Alliance was created to conduct research, do policy analysis, develop national programs, increase public awareness of family caregiving issues, work to strengthen state and local caregiving coalitions, and represent the US caregiving community internationally. Recognizing that family caregivers provide important societal and financial contributions toward maintaining the well-being of those they care for, the Alliance’s mission is to be the objective national resource on family caregiving with the goal of improving the quality of life for families and care recipients.

❗ Urgent Action Needed! Older Americans Act Reauthorization is at risk❗ We are learning the reauthorization of the Older Americans Act (OAA) could be dropped from Congress's year end legislative package. OAA programs are a lifeline and serve as a vital resource for nearly 11 million older adults and their family caregivers. Tell congress to act on this vital program for families. 💡How you can help: ☑️ Go to our OAA Action Center. (https://lnkd.in/ewcisSgE) ☑️ Reach out to your members of Congress and request they include OAA reauthorization as a part of the year end legislative package. Share this alert with your network. The more Congress hears, the better! Older adults and family caregivers in every community across the U.S. are counting on these vital programs. #OldAmericansAct #Congress #CaregiverNation #ActonRaise #TakeAction

It's been a year of impact and growth for our caregiver nation and the National Alliance for Caregiving. In our final blog post of the year, our President and CEO Jason Resendez reflects on all the ways NAC has transformed care in 2024. From strengthening Medicare and modernizing the Older Americans Act to advancing the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, NAC drove system-level changes to make caregiving more sustainable and dignified for millions of families navigating care. For a deeper dive into our impact, learn more here: https://lnkd.in/ePYypiAq We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this impactful year possible – from family caregivers who shared their personal stories, to funders who believed in our vision, to the researchers, partners, and policymakers who rely on our expertise. And of course, to our staff who are the heart of this work, thank you. Together, we are creating the policy, system, and culture change needed to value family caregivers. #Caregiving #FamilyCaregivers #NAC #PolicyChange #CaregiverNation

Exciting News! Bipartisan Congressional leadership released details on their end of year legislative package, and we’re excited that it includes a five-year reauthorization of the Older Americans Act (OAA). Within this reauthorization are key provisions that support family caregivers, including an extension of the RAISE Family Caregivers Act through 2029, provisions for respite care support, and new home and community-based services waiver flexibilities. This is a step forward for family caregivers. This was made possible thanks to the tireless commitment of advocates ensuring older adults and their family caregivers have meaningful access to vital community services and support programs. As Congress prepares to advance the bill this week, we encourage you to reach out to your Senators and Representative urging them to pass the CR that reauthorizes the OAA and the RAISE Family Caregivers Act.
