I often wonder what it would be like for me as a Healthcare Recruitment professional if I hadn't connected with my professional association. Would I have had the time to learn best practices with my busy schedule or interact with some amazing thought leaders over the years? The point is, I didn't have to, because that is what your professional association does for you...curates the best information and education and delivers it right to your fingertips. 20 years of best practices later, I am still thankful for National Association for Health Care Recruitment (NAHCR). It’s time for our Friday Featured Member! We are proud to work with so many talented health care recruitment professionals here at NAHCR. They embody all that is great about our industry. Today, we feature Marita Kellers, MSN, RN, RACR, RACS, Talent Acquisition Specialist – Nursing for Beebe Healthcare. Beebe Healthcare is the main provider of care in the coastal communities of Sussex County Delaware. In addition to the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus which includes a 210 bed hospital, Beebe operates two additional health campuses in Rehoboth Beach and the South Coastal area. Beebe also offers Home Care throughout Sussex County and is proud to have the only hospital-based nursing school in the state, the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing. Marita returned to her passion of Nurse Recruiting a little over two years ago by joining Beebe Healthcare. Prior to that she served as Director of Talent Acquisition for Luminis Health and before that, as Director of Employment Services at Anne Arundel Medical Center for over 5 years. She began her career as a Staff Nurse in 1983 working for Akron City Hospital and eventually worked as a nurse manager for 13 years before moving into nurse recruiting in 2001. Marita had been an active member in the Maryland Association for Health Care Recruitment for many years, even serving as President from 2013-2015 with prior roles as secretary for several years. She has also been an active member of NAHCR for well over a decade. Throughout that time, she has taken advantage of all NAHCR has to offer – the conferences, webinars, virtual roundtables, online resources, etc. What she enjoys most about NAHCR is networking! Even with all her years of experience, Marita says it continues to enhance her ability to be effective in her role. “The health care recruiting landscape is constantly changing; it’s critical to always be learning and adjusting.” She added that “NAHCR provides application for new or experienced health care recruitment professionals in ways that other associations aren’t”. She went on to mention the value of both the webinars and virtual roundtables; and how those provided tips and tricks she could implement immediately. Today, we feature Susan Amerman, RN, MSN, who serves as Nurse Recruiter for BAYPINES VA HEALTHCARE SYSTEM in Florida. The Bay Pines VA Health System is comprised of 9 locations in central southwest Florida. Facilities include the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in Bay Pines and 8 community-based outpatient clinics in Bradenton, Cape Coral, Naples, North Pinellas, Port Charlotte, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, and Sebring. As a Nurse Recruiter, Susan uses her background as a nurse and her 19 years of experience working in the VA Healthcare System, as a way to better understand the needs of potential candidates and provide them with insight on all the reasons working at the VA might be a good fit for their career. Susan is a US Army Veteran and has always devoted herself in service to others. She began her career at the VA 19 years ago serving as a float nurse where she got the opportunity to work in all areas of the hospital, both inpatient and outpatient. She moved into recruiting about 8 years ago and discovered a new passion. Not only does she love all aspects of recruiting and the satisfaction of hiring high quality professionals to support the needs of Veterans, but she also found a passion in the data analytics that are now so infused with recruiting. Susan is happy to share her Power BI skills with all NAHCR members! Susan is a relatively new member of NAHCR having joined earlier in 2024. She has also signed up to take the CHCR examination in February. The VA encourages its employees to become an expert in your field but is also selective about which certifications it approves – NAHCR is one so Susan was thrilled to see this. She encourages any health care recruitment professional to join NAHCR; she has found a lot of helpful tips and tricks so far plus as a member, NAHCR offers a discount for the CHCR exam.
