The NFF promotes the health and public enjoyment of our 193-million-acre National Forest System.
About us
The NFF works with communities and organizations to conserve and enhance the watersheds, wildlife habitat and wild places across our 193-million-acre National Forest System. Mission The National Forest Foundation (NFF), chartered by Congress, engages Americans in community-based and national programs that promote the health and public enjoyment of the 193-million-acre National Forest System, and administers private gifts of funds and land for the benefit of the National Forests. Our Values Our National Forests and Grasslands are at the core of America's natural riches, and yet, today these treasures are threatened by unprecedented challenges. Working with the U.S. Forest Service and partners, our goal is to leverage our best thinking, conservation capacity and community action to measurably improve the health of our National Forests and Grasslands. Core values guide our work. In all of our strategies, we strive to: -Unite the power of diverse interests and communities in collaborative stewardship; -Restore ecosystems to their natural resiliency and functions through on-the-ground conservation; -Engage Americans, young and old, in recognizing the gifts of our National Forests and Grasslands and in caring for them; -Sustain the commitment and ability of communities to serve as stewards by building the capacity of collaborative organizations; and -Add value where action would not otherwise be taken.

Tamolitch Falls, also known as “Blue Pool,” attracts Oregonians and visitors alike with its vivid sapphire waters. Unfortunately, popularity can take a toll. Blue Pool is currently accessed through a segment of the already-popular McKenzie River Trail, and the increased traffic leads to harmful erosion and conflicts for trail users. To make matters worse, Blue Pool’s parking area is not equipped to handle its numerous visitors, who often end up leaving cars parked unsafely along the McKenzie Highway, blocking access for emergency services when needed. In order to help remedy the situation, the NFF is working with the U.S. Forest Service to give Blue Pool its much-needed improvements, constructing a new, accessible trail to Blue Pool that will welcome trail users with a variety of mobility needs. At the same time, the Forest Service will construct a new parking area that will provide room for Blue Pool’s many admirers.

Thank you to everyone who joined Natural Restorations, USDA Forest Service Tonto National Forest, Wells Fargo, National Forest Foundation, Four Peaks Brewing , & Arizona Wholesale Growers today for the 5th annual Save Our Saguaros Replanting Event & Veteran's Day Weekend Celebration! 🌵 125 volunteers, including 18 youth volunteers, helped us plant 100 saguaros in the 2020 Bush Fire burn scar at Four Peaks on the Tonto National Forest. 🌵 In 2020, the Bush Fire burned over 193,000 acres & over 80,000 saguaros burned in Arizona’s 5th largest wildfire. Most of the fire occurred in the Sonoran Desert, an ecosystem not evolved or adapted to wildfires. When we lose an adult saguaro, it’s not something that will be replaced in our lifetime. By planting 100 saguaros the burn scar, volunteers are helping us restore the area & helping the ecosystem recover for future generations. Over 2,200 saguaros and almost 5,000 of other native desert cacti have been replanted in the 2020 Bush Fire burn scar! 🌵 This event was financed in part by grants from Wells Fargo & the USDA Forest Service We are grateful for their support! 🌵 This event was also possible due to support from these Natural Restorations Sponsors: Arizona Wholesale Growers, AZ 4Runner Outsiders, AZ Toy Pros, Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. , Beer Barn, Desert Monsters Tours, HDR, Icon Vehicle Dynamics, Illuminated Funds Group, Native Resources Intl., OdySea Aquarium, Resolution Copper, Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch, Security Title Agency, Inc., Salt River Project, State 48 Overland, Stellar Adventures, Wild West Off-Road Recovery, & Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative. 🌵 Thank you to everyone from the Tonto National Forest for their help & support! Shout to our Bec & Julia for brining our water trailer out! 🌵 Thank you to Stellar Adventures for donating bathrooms for the event! 🌵 Thank you Arizona Wholesale Growers for giving us a deep discount on saguaros, delivering on-site, & continuing to help support our replanting program! 🌵 Thank you to the military veterans who joined us today & the veterans on our Dedicated Restoration Team! Burt Morin, thank you for your help! 🌵 Check back for more photos! Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes, we'll share photos soon! 🌵 Join us for our next volunteer event, our 7th annual Green Friday Cleanup at Bartlett Lake with Salt River Project on Friday, November 29th, the day after Thanksgiving, from 9am to 12pm. https://lnkd.in/g2B37N93 #NaturalRestorations⠀ #SaveOurSaguaros⠀ #Arizona #tontonationalforeset #fourpeaks

Funding from National Forest Foundation helped reduce fuels in some high-priority areas listed in nearby Community Wildfire Protection Plans. This work was completed in January of this year and tied into previous work, so over the past two years, we've worked with partners including the National Forest Foundation to reduce fuels on more than 500 acres in the area! The photos show before and after one project near Mt. Princeton. 📷 CSFS #NFFGranteesAreGreat

How many National Forests can you name in 60 seconds? Having just wrapped up my first week at the National Forest Foundation, Jeff Zanelli gave me this exercise. Test your own knowledge and see if you can beat my current record. (And one day, I hope to name all 154 national forests in 60 seconds!) Support forest conservation today. https://lnkd.in/eBKYfvDy
