The American Association for Justice's Law Schools Committee is excited to announce the first installment of our three-part webinar series on Plaintiff Firms Careers for law students, titled “Plaintiff Firm Careers 101: Getting Hired and Navigating Compensation” It will cover the topics below, and feature AAJ members from around the country.
• Hear from Jessica Wieczorkiewicz on the fundamental choice between working at a defense firm and a plaintiff firm, and what sets plaintiff firms apart. Her firsthand experience with both sides will explain the differences between plaintiff and defense firms, including the types of cases handled, firm structure, and culture.
• Next, Lance Oliver will discuss the key skills and experiences that plaintiff firms look for when hiring. As a member of his firm’s hiring committee, Lance will give tips on how to tailor your resume and cover letter to get to the interview stage.
• Laura Yaeger will be discussing compensation packages at plaintiff firms, including salary, bonuses, and contingency-based compensation. She will also cover non-monetary compensation considerations like flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, and career growth.
Moderated by AAJ Law School Committee members Jacob M. Morse and Jade Haileselassie, this webinar was created for law students who have an interest in plaintiff-side work and who want to learn more about life inside a plaintiff firm. They will also moderate a Q&A with the panelists at the end of the event.
This complimentary webinar is just one of the benefits offered to law student members of AAJ -- register today, and start preparing for your career after graduation!
