This month, we gathered our staff to host a movie screening of Netflix’s Rez Ball, featuring one of our own community youth, Kauchani Bratt. The film tells a powerful story about a Native high school basketball team that overcame tragedy and pursued a state championship. We were honored to have Kauchani join us for a meet and greet. Many thanks to our cultural Committee for hosting this special event for #TeamNAHC to celebrate #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth! 🪶🧡 If you haven't already, make sure to stream Rez Ball on Netflix! #IndigenousStories #SupportLocalTalent

About us
The Native American Health Center is a non profit organization serving the California Bay Area Native Population and other under-served populations in the Bay Area. 2017 marked NAHC's 45th anniversary; as an organization, we have been serving our community since 1972. NAHC has worked at local, state, and federal levels to deliver resources and services for the urban Native community, including medical, dental, behavioral health, diabetes, obesity, substance abuse prevention, HIV/HCV care coordination and prevention. Native American Health Center’s mission is to provide comprehensive services to improve the health and well-being of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and residents of the surrounding communities, with respect for cultural and linguistic differences. NAHC serves the greater Bay Area and is open to everyone.

This month, we were honored to host a special visit from Darren Pete, Director of Congressional & Legislative Affairs for Indian Health Services (IHS). He joined us at our gala as well as visited our Oakland campus for a tour. It was an opportunity to share about the important work we’re doing in the Bay Area, as well as hear his perspective on the future of IHS under a new presidential administration. Thank you, Darren, for visiting and sharing your insights and passion for supporting Native communities. At NAHC, we remain grateful for the partnership of IHS as we work to ensure our community has access to the critical care and services they need. #NativeAmerican #IHS #CommunityHealth #NativeHealth #HealthcareLeadership #SupportNativeCommunities #PublicHealth

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our 2024 Gala last night to celebrate STRENGTH, RESILIENCY, AND EXCELLENCE! One of the most memorable moments of the night was the premiere of our new film, Love is the First Ceremony: Indigenizing Excellence at Native American Health Center. From the lived experiences of our leaders to the hands that help build our future, every story reminds us that when healthcare becomes a ceremony, it touches everyone who walks through our doors. Together, we are creating a more culturally connected community. We're proud to share this powerful film with you all. 🧡 🪶

Today, on #VeteransDay, we honor and remember the veterans in our communities who have served our country with courage and resiliency. Native Americans have a long legacy of military service, enlisting at a rate higher than any other ethnic group. We are deeply grateful for their sacrifices and contributions, and their stories of bravery and sacrifice are woven deeply into the strength of our communities. May we all continue to uplift and support our veterans always. 🪶
