We should always advance our profession utilizing technology advancement
Modern tools of the trade: We test ran the BIM software and VR hardware combos that our students will be utilizing in their capstone design and architectural preservation courses next semester. In these photos, Evan Johnston is using Autodesk Revit, Chaos Enscape, and a Meta Quest 3S headset. Looking forward to seeing students visualizing their designs and point clouds next semester! Big thanks to Brandon Benson, Michael Ryan, and Steve Blackburn for the support.

Today the graduate students at my Soil-Structure Interaction and Foundation Design class presented their projects. They performed finite element analysis for three real projects. They started from the geotech report to calcuate the constitutive model parameter, used the design drawings to build the geometry of the structures, and then performed the analysis and discussed the results. I was very happy with their understanding of the topics. I was also impressed by their effort in preparing their presentations. The LINK trail, a new pedestrian and bicycle trail that connects downtown South Bend to Notre Dame, is now open! The name of the trail symbolizes the collaboration and connectivity between the two vibrant destinations. Last night, we walked from campus to the Lauber, in partnership with Notre Dame Student Government, Visit South Bend Mishawaka and the City of South Bend. Check out local media coverage from last night: https://lnkd.in/gTe_uibj

In my office working with our graduate students on their Soil-Structure Interaction project. This group project is piled raft foundation for a high rise building. They utilized the pressuremeter test to come up with the parameters for their Plaxis model. Notre Dame Master of Engineering (MEng) Civil & Environmental Engineering & Earth Sciences at Notre Dame

It was an honor to attend the capstone presentations at Notre Dame. Very impressive work.
Our capstone design students gave their "elevator pitch" project updates this past Friday. Our audience learned about 16 different projects in 75 minutes, which is a testament to how well the students can present their work in short order! We want to thank the following companies for providing mentorship for the student projects: Black & Veatch, Bulley & Andrews, Buro Happold, Clark Construction Group, Gannett Fleming, Lochmueller Group (x2), McCormick Engineering, LLC, Severud Associates, American Structurepoint (x2), Thornton Tomasetti, United Consulting, Indianapolis, IN and City of South Bend, The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western, Westwood Professional Services, and WSP.

Had a great TPO roofing training in Beloit, Wisconsin, with Jason DiModica and the team. The hands-on learning and valuable insights will definitely help in future projects. Proud to have earned a certificate of attendance and excited to apply this knowledge moving forward! #TPORoofing #ConstructionSkills #ProfessionalGrowth #RoofingIndustry
