NEPIRC is a public-private partnership providing professional consulting services to small and mid-sized manufacturers.

About us

NEPIRC is a private not-for-profit corporation that provides world-class consulting and technical assistance services exclusively to the small and mid-sized manufacturing community of northeastern and the northern tier of Pennsylvania. Our goal is to empower our clients to maximize their revenue, productivity, profitability and overall competitiveness by helping them implement strategic initiatives that yield immediate returns on their investment and can be maintained over the long term. This, in turn, creates and sustains well-paying regional manufacturing jobs. Our specialty areas include Lean Enterprise, Innovation, Strategic Planning, Quality Systems (ISO 9001, AS 9100, TS, API, etc...), Leadership Development and Supply Chain Management. Through our statewide and national network of affiliates, we bring the expertise of over 1,600 manufacturing specialists to each of our engagements - a depth of experience and knowledge that rivals any national consulting firm - all scaled for the small and mid-sized manufacturing market. All of our engagements are custom-built to suit individual client needs and delivered at levels of investment and resource requirements that are practical for the companies we're honored to serve. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce and PA Department of Community & Economic Development, our engagements enabled our clients to realize $165.4 million in increased revenue, eliminate over $16.6 million of non-personnel related costs and invest over $25.5 million in regional expansion over the past year. Most importantly, our clients created and maintained a total of 1,302 manufacturing jobs that would have otherwise been lost. We believe we serve the most meaningful sector of our regional economy - manufacturing - and we do so with passion, energy and ability that is unrivaled. Gertrude Hawk Chocolates is Manufacturer of the Month for January! Headquartered in Dunmore, PA, the company originated in 1936 when Gertrude (Jones) Hawk started making chocolate in her kitchen on Mark Avenue in the Poconos. Soon after, Gertrude and her son Elmer built their first large-scale manufacturing facility, as well as a retail store. In the early 1980s, the company invested in a one-shot shell molder, a new process for forming molded chocolates. Soon after this investment was made, the well-known Smidgen was born! Peanut Butter Smidgens quickly became the company's #1 selling chocolate and still remain so today. Presently, Gertrude Hawk Chocolates utilizes over 150,000 sq. ft. of modern production and distribution space to supply its customers with the products they have grown to love. Gertrude Hawk was also recently featured as part of WVIA's NEPA @ Work digital short series. Visit https://bit.ly/4fY5BB7 to watch the video and read the blog authored by DiscoverNEPA. Please consider Gertrude Hawk Chocolates when purchasing your Valentine's Day gifts and treats this upcoming season! If you'd like to be a featured as a Manufacturer of the Month, please email Chelsey@NEPIRC.com for more information. #mepnationalnetwork #PADCED #manufacturing #madeinpa #manufacturingspotlight

  • Did you register yet for NEPIRC's new no-cost webinar: Lean vs. Six Sigma? Taking place Tuesday, January 14 from 10 to 11 a.m. via MS Teams, you won't want to miss out. Mark Morgis, NEPIRC's Continuous Improvement Specialist, will discuss Lean and Six Sigma, which are two of the most prominent process improvement methodologies that organizations use across industries. Although they both have similar philosophies, understanding what makes them different will allow an organization to selectively use the correct tool and get the best benefit. Lean Sigma is perceived as a hybrid of the two but is most effective if each methodology is discreetly understood. Participants will learn the key similarities between Lean and Six Sigma, along with the theoretical and practical distinctions between them. The instructor will also provide an understanding of which is the best fit for attendees' respective organizations. Learn more and register today! • 🎉Happy 2-year NEPIRC anniversary to Jenelle Osborne, Talent Stream Coordinator! 🎉 Jenelle originally joined NEPIRC as our part-time Manufacturing Ambassador Dream Team Project Coordinator responsible for growing and overseeing NEPIRC's Dream Team. She conducted school outreach to book in-school presentation dates, arranged Dream Team involvement in career fairs and summer youth camps and coordinated Dream Team Ambassador schedules and events. As of March 2024, Jenelle accepted a full-time position as NEPIRC’s Talent Stream Coordinator. In addition to her Dream Team responsibilities, Jenelle's efforts now also include the attraction and retention of qualified talent for our local manufacturers. Jenelle's favorite aspect of working at NEPIRC is having the ability to connect with and help inform students of the many great manufacturing career opportunities that exist in our region. Jenelle has established close relationships with manufacturing professionals and school administrators who all work together to achieve the common goal of inspiring local youth to consider manufacturing and trade careers and realize that today's advanced manufacturing industry is safe, clean, technologically advanced and offers great opportunities. Jenelle's two sons are her world, so when not at work, her life revolves around them and their after school activities and events. Whether roller skating, bowling with friends or having family game nights, spending time with family and friends is most important to Jenelle. She also enjoy volunteering for various community organizations. Please join us in congratulating Jenelle on her work anniversary! #mepnationalnetwork #PADCED #manufacturing #workanniversary🎉
