The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) added the names of 12 businesses to its Workplace Accountability in Labor List (The WALL), bringing to 245 the number of employers that have failed to address their outstanding liabilities for violations of wage, benefit or tax laws. Any business whose name appears on The WALL is barred from public contracting with state, county, or local governments, until they pay their liabilities in full. 🚦 Exciting news! NJDOL has launched a new initiative to enhance safety for New Jersey's crossing guards. This important safety initiative aligns with states, municipalities, and school districts around the country recognizing National Crossing Guard Awareness Day on February 12. Key safety measures covered by the program will include: • High-visibility attire for crossing guards • Comprehensive training for crossing guards employed by police departments and school districts • A “STOP” paddle that is 18 inches in diameter with six-inch tall reflective or illuminated letters for every crossing guard • Crosswalks free from slip, trip and fall hazards This proactive effort aims to safeguard the invaluable work crossing guards do for our communities. Rutgers Health and NJDOL launched the “Pathways to Recovery” website to provide NJ residents impacted by the opioid crisis with help finding supportive employment and to assist employers become certified Recovery-Friendly Workplaces. The new site also shares the inspiring testimonials of residents in recovery; connects grantees with employers; and provides information on critical support services. “As New Jersey continues to address the opioid epidemic, it’s crucial that we create pathways to sustainable employment for those in recovery,” said NJDOL Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo.
