  • At NLA we work with incredible front-line partners — the groups on the ground who have been doing the hard work year-round to organize our communities to fight for everything -- from safeguarding reproductive rights and fighting for a living wage, to holding the line against the rise of authoritarianism. If you are looking to give this #GivingTuesday, we can tell you we know that these organizations are doing work worth investing in (More info in the Comments!)

Funders: Join us on Tues, Dec 3, for the second webinar in the How We Built This funder webinar series: “Post Election Assessment: Managing Risk in a Climate of Rising Authoritarianism”! We’ll discuss the operational threats and challenges facing multi-entity organizations as we collectively prepare for a second Trump Administration, as well as how philanthropy can better fortify the field by evolving its understanding of risk. In an era of rising authoritarianism, well-funded attacks on social justice organizations are an on-going threat to the progressive ecosystem. Increasingly, movement organizations are facing numerous obstacles including: lawsuits; threats to organizations’ tax statuses; legislation intent on limiting the activities of movement organizations; and digital, political, and personal security threats. The How We Built This funder webinar series was created through a partnership between New Left Accelerator (NLA), The Capacity Shop (TCS), the Funders' Committee For Civic Participation (FCCP), and the Funders’ Committee Action Fund (FCAF) to spotlight innovative infrastructure and multi-entity power-building work happening in the field during a critical time, while also providing opportunities for learning, collaboration, and co-conspiration. The panel will be moderated and led by Deborah Barron, Executive Director at New Left Accelerator and The Capacity Shop. Panelists include leaders in the progressive space in protecting democracy, managing risk and protecting our movements: - Suneela Jain, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, Tides - Yordanos Eyoel, Founder and CEO, Keseb - Shanna Singh Hughey, Policy Strategist, Protect Democracy This is a crucial time to join the conversation. Hope to see you there! REGISTER: https://lnkd.in/gmmwDhrj
