Hi folks, flying back to Newark from our Houston event as a 6'3 dude in the middle seat row, picture me as the bizarro LinkedIn Abby Hopper if you will.
Anyways, just thinking about what was discussed during our conference. It all just kind of hit me at once and maybe some of you have already had this experience?
NPM US (New Project Media) is coming up on year 5 of our leap of faith as a startup covering the renewable energy industry. But more importantly, I feel like this Houston event served as a mile marker. We had the old guard there for sure, but we also had kids straight out of universities. And so, I just want to talk to them as authentically as possible.
This industry is evolving so fast and it's really such a fantastic time to get into it because there's so much room for growth.
If you are smart, motivated and care about decarbonization across the board, this is the place to be because you can rise up quickly. Lots of industry participants are proactively trying to recruit and keep talent (as discussd at our conference), so if you can commit to several years at a shop, there's no question that your marketability will grow exponentially.
Also really hope that the people that spoke at our Houston conference that are super smart and diligent like Meghan Pasricha and Justin S. take recruitment as a call to arms (you are my rising stars!), sky's the limit to build successful teams and I'm really fond of watching everyone's success because in the long run we all win! We are all part of something historic, never been done before in our lifetimes, and that definitely shouldn't be a deterrent in any way, because the energy transition is written in stone.
Also just want to put it out there that I'm incredibly impressed with all the immensely talented folks working every day to make the transition happen.
Keep going people and don't get discouraged on any level, despite the challenges discussed at our event including interconnection, permitting, supply chain, financing, labor supply, etc.
Because when we get there, it will be a higher achievement than any of us ever imagined and we'll be able to tell our kids/grandkids we did it for them. Picture that in your mind. Really visualize having that conversation with them because it's coming! Have no doubt we'll be proud to tell them we stepped up when the world was depending on us. We did it.
And BTW, if NPM can help you along the way, we'll that's just perfect! Thank you so much for all the help we've received from the industry since we started in 2019. It's been fabulous to be a small part of (as we say in NJ) this thing of ours, helping as much as we can, during this amazing era. 👏
