The New Jersey Lottery is the State’s fifth largest individual revenue producer benefiting the residents of New Jersey. Since its inception in 1970, the Lottery has contributed over $30 billion to the State, helping to support many worthwhile programs and services.
In 1969, New Jersey voters approved legislation to launch a state lottery by an astonishing 81.5%, becoming the third state to pass a legal lottery. The New Jersey Lottery is the title sponsor in a multi-year agreement with the New Jersey Festival of Ballooning. The “New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning” is the largest summertime hot air balloon and music festival in North America, considered a must on everyone’s summer calendar, as well as one of the Top 50 festivals in America by MSN Lifestyle.

The New Jersey Lottery has released its audited results for the fiscal year 2024. Sales totaled $3.63 billion, the fourth-highest sales result in the Lottery’s history. Lottery proceeds benefit the state pension fund. At $1.17 billion, FY2024 marks the seventh consecutive year the Lottery’s contribution has surpassed $1 billion, benefitting teachers, police officers and other public sector employees. A Tri-State Megabucks ticket sold at the St. Albans Hannaford Supermarkets produced a $6.27 million winner in September. Hannaford chose to donate its $50,000 commission to 3 local organizations that support the St. Albans community. Hannaford and the Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery recently welcomed the three community organizations to the St. Albans store for a celebratory check presentation. DLL Commissioner Wendy Knight commended Hannaford’s community-forward values. “Hannaford's generosity in donating their Vermont Lottery commission will help provide essential access to safe housing, nourishment, and support for homeless youth in Franklin County.” https://lnkd.in/e8GT8hN3

The New Jersey Lottery completed a busy two months of visiting the conventions in Atlantic City for the New Jersey School Boards, the New Jersey Education Association and last week’s League of Municipalities. Along with some fun and games we stressed how much the lottery helps the state meet its pension funding obligations. Since 2017, the lottery has contributed $7.5 billion toward the pension system that funds teachers and other public workers. Last week, more than 1,000 people entered daily raffles to try to win books of Scratch-Off tickets.
