As a Cleveland Metro School District graduate, it was truly a privilege speaking at the City Club with CMSD CEO Dr. Morgan and CMSD Board Chair Sara Elaqad. As a business leader I've seen first hand how we've strengthened the connections between our education systems and the business community to gain access to home grown talent. Terrific forum The City Club of Cleveland explaining Issue 49 which will be on the ballot for Cleveland residents. Issue 49 combines two asks: an 8.6 mill, 10-year, operating levy increase, and a 2.65 mill, 35-year bond extension authorization that will not increase taxes. I had to add Monday's because it usually takes us an additional day to get either the win or loss out of our systems. But today is different... Today is a special day, today is the day that our Cleveland Browns have decided that our city needs a Super Bowl under our belt!! This Saturday! Youth ages 16-18 and / or graduating in the class of 2024 are invited to Let’s Build Together! The Foundation of Construction: 101 a community day of learning to help build career pathways and employment opportunities in the construction industry. Shak Davis, President of Next Generation Construction LLC (NextGen), will join CEO and President of Welty Building Construction, Don Taylor, and Vice President of Welty, Michael Taylor to meet with young adults interested in learning more. Alanna Nicholas, CEO of Capital Talent Development Group will moderate the discussion. Nicholas says, “Through the shared collaboration with the partnered construction firms who are working on key state and federal infrastructure projects, our goal is to help develop a future pipeline of youth talent representing the Greater Akron/Summit County community, and ultimately create inclusive prosperity through the construction industry.” The program will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Akron-Fairlawn Hilton at 3180 W. Market St., Akron. Lunch will be provided. The event is free and open to young adults, ages 16-18, and / or graduating in the class of 2024. Space is limited.
