Join us on 3rd September for the official virtual launch of the Next Generation Sanitation Knowledge Hub platform with an expert panel exploring policy, research and market access of new sanitation technologies in Africa. The South African Sanitation Technology Enterprise Programme (SASTEP) Water Research Commission Meet the Speakers! Dr. Preyan Arumugam, PhD is a sanitation scientist with a passion for innovation around sanitation delivery to the underserved. Her expertise is in testing and monitoring of non-sewered sanitation (NSS), design and evaluation of decentralized wastewater treatment systems, standards development and revision (ISO 30500, SANS 1733) related to NSS and informing policy around sanitation provision in South Africa. She works closely with the eThekwini Municipality and is funded primarily through the WRC-SASTEP. Dr Arumugam is currently aiming to establish a formal Testing Centre for sanitation treatment technologies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Valerie Naidoo completed Masters and PhD degrees from the University of KwaZulu Natal in the Pollution Research Group (Department of Chemical Engineering), with experience in wastewater systems. She has 6 years industry experience at Unilever South Africa and Unilever AMET (Africa, Middle East and Turkey) in innovations development and implementation. Currently, she is the Executive Manager of Business Development and Innovations at the Water Research Commission. Valerie is the Past President of the Water Institute of Southern Africa, and previous Chair of the Board of the Water Institute of Southern Africa, a 3000-membership body for water sector professionals in Southern Africa. Currently is a member of IWA Innovators Platform Malick Madeira is an experienced leader with 14+ years in International Development, Banking and Urban Development across Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Americas. He has a proven track record coordinating and managing large-scale programs of multi-million-dollar investments. He is a strategic thinker with a global perspective, skilled in PPP stakeholder engagement and driving innovation to achieve ambitious goals. He has facilitated entry and presence of the Foundation in 12 countries under the WASH program. #sanitation #innovation #africa #sastep #water #wash
