During his keynote, Niantic SVP Brian McClendon showcased Gaussian splats made with Scaniverse. This new scanning mode allows you to create photorealistic 3D scenes using only your smartphone. Unlike meshes, splats are powerful enough to represent: 🔍Transparency 🪞Reflections 📐View-dependent lighting 3D scans are important building blocks for an immersive 3D map of the world, especially the places people share the most.
