  • We were thrilled to present an interactive session about Nigeria to Grade 6 students at Butler Montessori School in Darnestown, Maryland. The session, led by Dr. Ebun Walker and supported by the Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC, was a wonderful opportunity to share Nigeria's history, culture, and growing global significance. By 2050, Nigeria is projected to be the third-largest country in the world, with a population of 400 million. Engaging America’s youth in understanding our heritage is vital for fostering cross-cultural connections and inspiring global perspectives. We look forward to continuing these educational exchanges in 2025, and empowering America’s future leaders with the knowledge of Nigeria and Africa’s role in the global community. #Nigeria #CulturalExchange #YouthEducation #ButlerMontessori #GlobalFuture

  • The Nigerian Center honors the life and legacy of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who passed away today at the age of 100. As the first sitting U.S. president to visit Nigeria in 1978, he fostered a spirit of diplomacy and partnership. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and to the United States for this profound loss. His century-long legacy of leadership and dedication to global peace will be remembered. #USNigeria

Today, on International Migrants Day, We are honored to share an update on our two-year campaign advocating for TPS (Temporary Protected Status) and SSR (Special Student Relief) for Nigeria. Yesterday morning, our Executive Director Gbenga Ogunjimi held a press conference on Capitol Hill alongside several Black immigrant right organizations leaders and partners, Congresswoman Clarke and other members of Congress, urging President Biden to take decisive action to protect Black immigrants and advance TPS/SSR initiatives. Regardless of the outcome, we are proud of the relentless efforts and progress we've made with this administration and we look forward to continuing our advocacy with the incoming Trump administration. This campaign has been a two-year journey, and it has been a privilege to mobilize our community around a policy shift that once seemed unthinkable. If you or someone you know needs immigration assistance, please call our immigration assistance hotline at 1-800-395-9272. Full press release available at - https://lnkd.in/e2S66iFi Thank you for your continued support.
