Healing Through Sacred Medicines: A Personal Journey
I recently came across this clip of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. discussing his son’s transformative experience with psychedelics, and it deeply resonated with me. RFK Jr. is a recovering alcoholic and heroin addict who was initially against psychedelics, believing people were just trading one bad thing for another. His perspective changed dramatically after these medicines helped his son heal from the devastating trauma of losing his mother, who tragically took her own life. This shift—from skepticism to support—highlights the profound potential of these therapies.
I had a similar healing experience as his son did with his mom, with my father and my sister Monica—decades of trauma resolved in just 12 to 14 hours. It’s truly incredible how sacred medicines can help us break free from the grip of past pain. It wasn't fun, it was extremely challenging—but it was the most transformative experience of my life.
In May of 2021, I had the privilege of sitting with the medicine alongside Navy SEAL 'Lone Survivor' Marcus Luttrell, Robert Gallery, a veteran NFL player and college All-American, another veteran SEAL teammate of Marcus, and Jarred Taylor, one of the founders of Black Rifle Coffee and a highly decorate TACP. Together, we experienced firsthand the healing power of these medicines, and it’s clear that psychedelic-assisted therapy is a game-changer, especially for veterans.
At the No Fallen Heroes Foundation, we are leading the way in healing our heroes at home.
Through these sacred medicines, we are addressing the unseen wounds of war—addiction, PTS, and trauma. I believe, as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stated, that psychedelics should be part of the conversation in mental health treatment, especially for those who have given so much for our country.
Healing is possible, and we’re proud to be part of this revolutionary approach to mental health.

Alcohol, Cancer, and the Double Burden for Our Veterans
The recent advisory from the U.S. Surgeon General linking alcohol to cancer feels deeply personal—and urgent. Alcohol isn’t just a leading cause of preventable cancers; it’s been ingrained in cultures like fighter aviation. “Tonight we drink, tomorrow we die” was more than just a saying—it was a way of life.
A VA study from a couple of years ago revealed a troubling reality: veteran aviators face higher risks of cancer, likely due to prolonged exposure to harmful radiation from radar systems. But the impact doesn’t stop there. Veterans diagnosed with cancer are 60% more likely to take their own lives.
This is a double whammy for veteran aviators and all veterans. The physical toll of service, coupled with a culture of heavy drinking, has created a crisis that demands attention.
I faced my own battle with alcohol. It wasn’t until I sat with ibogaine—a powerful addiction interrupter—that I found a path to freedom. Ibogaine breaks the cycle of addiction, offering a clean slate to rebuild your life. It’s transformative, and I believe it’s a critical tool in addressing the addiction and mental health challenges veterans face.
At the No Fallen Heroes Foundation, we are committed to healing our heroes—mind, body, and spirit. Psychedelic therapies like ibogaine and others are offering hope where conventional treatments have fallen short.
It’s time we address the roots of these crises—alcohol abuse, cancer risks, and the culture that perpetuates them. Let’s advocate for awareness, innovative treatments, and a future where no veteran feels left behind.

In June 2023, I had the honor of delivering the keynote speech at the Veteran and First Responder Dinner during Psychedelic Science. Thousands of veterans, first responders, politicians, hippies, and people from all walks of life filled the audience. I never expected to share my story with such a diverse group of Americans, all united by the same mission objective: to heal and transform lives through psychedelic-assisted therapy.
This was one of the most powerful moments of my life because I felt the presence of my father and sister. Together, with God's guidance, they helped me share just a glimpse of how these therapies saved and changed my life. I also explained why Susan Buckley and I founded the No Fallen Heroes Foundation. If you’ve ever wondered what drives us, this clip is a must-watch.
It was an emotional roller coaster—plenty of laughs, a few tears, and most importantly, tears of joy. It’s about hope, healing, and a mission to save lives. The Second Psychedelic Revolution is here, and it’s being led by all of us—We the People.
This year, we’re doubling down on our efforts to heal even more heroes at home.
Please join us in this mission. Your support—whether by donating, sharing this message, or spreading awareness—means the world to us and to the veterans and first responders who need it most.
Together, we can continue to save & change lives.

From the Battlefield to Healing: Jay Kopelman's Journey with Psychedelics | MAX Afterburner Ep 117
In this powerful and deeply personal episode, Whiz sits down with retired Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel Jay Kopelman to explore his harrowing journey from the horrors of combat to the depths of trauma and PTSD. Jay shares his story of survival, including an unsuccessful suicide attempt, and his life-changing experiences with psychedelic medicine—ibogaine and Bufo (toad)—that not only saved his life but healed his soul. These treatments helped him understand his relationship with his son, conquer his struggles with alcohol, and find a renewed purpose.
Now, as the Executive Director of Mission Within Foundation, Jay is dedicated to helping other veterans and first responders find the same healing and transformation. Just wrapped up an incredible interview on Fox News Live!
We talked about the struggles veterans face during the holidays—PTS, depression, loneliness, survivor’s guilt, and how many turn to alcohol to cope.
I also shared my personal story: overcoming childhood trauma, flying fighters for 15 years, the loss of close friends to mishaps and suicides, and the toll it all took on me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It led me down a destructive path of depression, loss of purpose, separation from God, alcohol, and drugs.
Nearly four years ago, psychedelic-assisted therapy saved and changed my life.
That experience inspired me to launch the No Fallen Heroes Foundation, which provides grants to veterans, first responders, and their families to access life-changing alternative therapies.
I also expressed my hope and excitement for the new administration’s views on psychedelics for veterans, from VP-elect JD Vance to HHS nominee RFK Jr. and SECDEF nominee Pete Hegseth.
Change is coming, and it’s overdue.
My ultimate mission objective?
For NFHF to no longer be needed. It’s time for our government to step up and keep its promises to our heroes.
Until that day comes, No Fallen Heroes Foundation will continue to heal our heroes at home.
