Live the New Forest Future
About us
The Center creates bold possibilities that give rise to vibrant Northern Forest communities. We are a regional innovation and investment partner creating rural vibrancy by connecting people, economy, and the forested landscape across the 30-million-acre Northern Forest of northern Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. We bring collaborative leadership, new ideas, program delivery, investment and public policy expertise to renew the pride, purpose and vitality of the region’s communities while advancing a forest stewardship ethic. The Center increasingly focuses its programs in specific geographic areas to create the conditions that attract and retain young people and entrepreneurs. Our programs strengthen communities, enhance destination appeal for visitors and residents, drive regional innovation in key sectors of the forest-based economy, including wood products and Automated Wood Heat, and provide regional leadership. Our integrated approach is rooted in a strong land ethic that benefits both people and place. As an organization: We believe in the New Forest Future. We invest in people and communities to secure regional prosperity and a resilient landscape. We believe in bold, adaptive leadership. We bring new ideas and resources to accelerate innovation across geographic, social and ideological boundaries. We believe in widely shared opportunity. We collaborate to secure community benefits rooted in the interdependence of a vibrant economy, healthy ecosystem and an equitable society. We believe in persistence. We build long-term partnerships and local capacity to sustain community pride, purpose and vitality.

It is not too late to help us reach our goal: 100 donations to the Northern Forest Center by December 31st. Your support is crucial to help us reach our overall goal of 300 donations for the New Forest Future by year-end — and we need you to be part of it! Whether you’ve already donated or have been thinking about giving, now is the perfect time to make a difference. Your donation — of any size — will help advance the Northern Forest Center’s mission of building resilient communities, strengthening forest stewardship, and supporting a thriving forest-based economy across the region. Here’s the special part: If you donate $50 or more to help meet the challenge, you’ll have the option to receive a hat or t-shirt as a gift from us! https://lnkd.in/e8UBs4cJ

The benefits of outdoor recreation have not always been equitably shared by society at large. The characteristics of typical outdoor recreation participants – whether reflecting race, gender, sexual orientation, level of physical ability, or socio-economic status – do not match the diversity of the general population.
