After a devastating car accident left U.S. Army veteran Samuel paralyzed, the dedicated Danbury Hospital emergency medicine, neurosurgery, critical care and rehabilitation teams stepped into action. The 37-year-old has lived a life of strength and service: He has traveled the world protecting others as a combat medic. “Not being able to walk was a huge struggle, physically and mentally,” Samuel said. “Actually, 95% of the fight was mental. I went from living a fast, adrenaline-seeking life and working to being home full-time, with my wife as a full-time caregiver.” With complex spine surgery and ongoing recovery support, Samuel is now walking short distances and making steady progress. “I notice gains every week,” he said. Neurosurgeon Dr. Jeffrey Gilligan said Samuel has had “a remarkable recovery, considering people with this type of injury usually have either continued paralysis or minimal improvements. We were able to get him to surgery quickly, which I think has helped his recovery. His determination to use physical therapy over these last several months and mindset have been the key to his continued improvements.” 👏 Show Samuel some love and thank the incredible care teams in the comments! 🔗 Follow the link for his full story: https://bit.ly/49N65Z3

As tipping becomes more widespread, does it remain a simple act of kindness, a "guilt trip" or a response to wage inequality? 🤔 Dr. Paul Wright, senior VP and system chair for the Neuroscience Institute at Nuvance Health, shared with CBS News that tipping actually triggers the release of feel-good chemicals like dopamine and oxytocin in the brain, which are associated with happiness and social connection. However, with tipping now common in many different industries, some feel that it may be less about generosity and more about fulfilling societal expectations or addressing wage inequality. We’d love to hear your perspective — how do you feel about tipping?
Has tipping in America reached a tipping point?
