[WATCH] Over the past few decades, fruit and vegetable production as well as the number of farms producing them are on a decline in the United States. At the same time, the U.S. is prioritizing commodities like corn and soybeans which support livestock and fuel production, rather than human consumption. Americans are increasingly getting their produce from overseas. In 2021, U.S. imports of fresh fruit and vegetables accounted for 60% and 38% of total U.S.′ supply. Why are U.S. fruit and vegetable farms in decline, when we need them more than ever? #farming #agriculture #rural #agribusiness #farmbill #whatsnext https://lnkd.in/eTgh4YpH
