Driving Clinical Excellence & Value-Based Care Performance | VP of Strategy @ CareAbout | Empowering Providers with Innovative Solutions

💡Key insights💡from the article: 1. Mismatch of Skills: High performers in technical roles may lack the broader traits needed for leadership, such as adaptability and team-building. 2. Flawed Evaluation: Performance metrics often rely on biased subjective ratings, leading to poor promotion decisions. 3. Forward-Looking Selection: Organizations must prioritize potential over past success, embracing diverse and unconventional candidates to meet evolving challenges 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 。 Another thought provoking article published by the Harvard Business Review — making me reassess and reflect on my own leadership skills. I believe that for a leader to excel, they must have a comprehensive understanding of their business—its revenue streams, market forces, expenses, and the macroeconomic factors (regulatory, competitive, geopolitical, etc.) that influence its success. That said, I disagree with the notion that technical high performers cannot transition into great leaders. With the right people, processes, and technology in place, they can create sustainable models that drive success. I firmly believe leaders should operate on the front lines to experience challenges firsthand, enabling them to learn, troubleshoot, and refine solutions into a minimum viable product (MVP). Once an MVP is tested with a small pilot and proves successful, the focus shifts to scaling. This transition is where high performers distinguish themselves from high-performing leaders. Great leaders not only scale solutions but also nurture and empower their teams to take ownership of the next steps. After a brief period of guidance, they know when to fully step back and pass the baton. A high-performing leader understands the importance of building systems that outlast their own tenure—a sustainable model that thrives independently and makes it easy for them to move on when the time comes.

  • 🏥 Healthcare News Update: Week of December 23-30, 2024 🩺 The healthcare sector this past week is ending the year strong with exciting developments! Here's a quick rundown: 1. RSV Vaccine Acceptance on the Rise 💉 Great news for public health! A year after their introduction, RSV vaccines for newborns and older adults are gaining wider acceptance among Americans[3]. This trend suggests a positive shift in vaccine attitudes. 2. FDA Approves Generic Version of Diabetes Drug 💊 The US FDA has given the green light to Hikma's generic version of Novo's diabetes drug Victoza[5]. This approval could potentially increase accessibility and affordability for diabetes patients. 3. Concerns Over Hoarding Disorder in Seniors 🏠 Growing awareness about hoarding disorder among seniors is highlighting the need for better access to effective interventions[6]. This issue underscores the importance of mental health support for our aging population. 4. Hospital-at-Home Programs Gaining Traction 🏥 Larger, urban, not-for-profit, and academic hospitals are leading the adoption of CMS 'hospital-at-home' programs[3]. This innovative approach offers alternatives to traditional hospital admissions, potentially revolutionizing patient care. 5. Breakthrough in Cancer Treatment Research 🧬 Researchers have developed a groundbreaking technology that may convert colon cancer cells into a state resembling normal cells without killing them[3]. This could pave the way for less invasive cancer treatments with fewer side effects. These developments showcase the dynamic nature of healthcare innovation and the ongoing efforts to improve patient care and outcomes. What are your thoughts on these advancements? • 🚨 Opportunity alert 🚨

On Christmas eve (12/24) we posted a new opportunity for a Growth Associate. We did it on that day because we wanted to give someone a gift of the potential to help millions of lives. In just 3 days, we've received 535 applications. Unfortunately, only 5 people read the full description and responded with the info we were looking for. We didn't want your resume, that’s your linkedin Profile. We wanted to see you on video because that's a key part of the job. I understand it's hard to get a new job and when it feels like everyone is ignoring your application, it's really easy to "apply" on linkedin in a few clicks. I just wish more people spent a few more seconds reading. Attention to detail in our industry is very important. If you applied a little too quickly, feel free to send those two extra things we requested. Peter Verrillo and I have watched 100% of the videos sent 😊 #newjob #hiring #jobs #apply

  • This week brought a cascade of developments in our healthcare ecosystem, let’s unpack - Cybersecurity in Healthcare The administration proposed rules aim to tighten cyber resilience, addressing vulnerabilities that threaten operational integrity and patient safety. As digital transformation accelerates, the focus is shifting to proactive risk mitigation; a pivotal move for an increasingly interconnected care delivery model. Physician Associate Policy Governor Hochul’s signing of three critical bills expands the scope and integration of physician associates. This signals a long-overdue pivot toward optimizing workforce utilization in response to primary care shortages and an aging population. Advanced practice providers are stepping into new roles, challenging traditional care hierarchies. Insurance Enrollment Push With the December deadline approaching, the state is actively driving awareness around enhanced affordability measures. The expanded income eligibility thresholds represent a calculated strategy to increase coverage rates amidst rising healthcare costs and persistent inequities. The question now is: Are we truly prepared to operationalize these changes at scale? What recent healthcare development has caught your attention? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
