About us
New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) was founded in 1852, and today serves 905,005 electricity customers and 271,547 natural gas customers across more than 40% of upstate New York. At NYSEG, we've always been dedicated to the communities we serve, and strive daily to provide safe, reliable service to customers. That's why we provide more than electricity. We spearhead conservation efforts, encourage economic growth, assist area businesses and fund important charity organizations through established and often one-of-a-kind programs.

Every day, you enter a room, flip a switch and your lights come on. What you don’t see is the work behind the scenes to make sure that happens. Our communities are growing rapidly. We’re collaborating with building developers and state and local leaders to build a smarter #energyinfrastructure to ensure customers have reliable power when they need it, for both today and tomorrow. #grid #resilience

Our elves made merry for a teenaged cancer patient in Binghamton last week, working with A Room to Heal, Inc. to make over her bedroom. Getting active in the community is something our employees love to do, and in this #SeasonOfGiving, this was a joyful event.

The elves at our three Binghamton offices have been busy spreading the spirit of giving this holiday season, dropping off gifts for the families served by the Family and Children's Society this week, donated by our local employees. #SeasonOfGiving

Our employees had the opportunity to help stock shelves at the Mechanicville Area Community Services Center, Inc. (MACSC), which assists more than 100 families weekly in the surrounding communities. Our volunteers unloaded carfuls of donated food from the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train and sorted and stacked the donations, helping MACSC continue its mission of meeting the needs of the greater Mechanicville area. It is always an honor to give back and be involved in the communities that we serve. #SeasonOfGiving #CPKCHolidayTrain CPKC

We've invested in tech to increase the reliability of our #grid in 2024. Automation technologies mean fewer and shorter duration outages for our customers. NYSEG has installed 544 new devices in the last year to increase this #automation, as well as 29 in RG&E territory. Read all about how we're making service more reliable: https://ow.ly/TopF50Um2i8

On this #GivingTuesday, we’re proud to support so many great organizations impacting lives across New York. We encourage everyone to consider giving today. Together, we can make a difference.
It's #GivingTuesday, a reminder that all of us can make a difference by #giving time or money to the passions or causes that we care about. Through the #AvangridFoundation and our family of companies, we're proud to support so many great organizations — from Habitat for Humanity International and the American Red Cross, to Connecticut Foodshare and the Travis Mills Foundation, just to name a few. And we also love supporting the passions of our employees through #volunteering, to the tune of 23,000 hours in 2023. We encourage everyone to take the opportunity today — or any day — to give whatever they can, no matter how little, to help make our communities safer and stronger. You can learn more about the organizations we support on our web site, and be sure to find a non-profit near you that could use a lending hand. #SeasonOfGiving

New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) senior leadership is conducting site visits with its key accounts across Upstate New York to work with businesses on how the Company can be a partner to their success. At a recent executive-to-executive visit to Corning Incorporated, NYSEG President and CEO Trish Nilsen met with Corning DVP and Chief Procurement Officer Nolan Smith to discuss grant opportunities, how reliability affects Corning’s operations, and upcoming projects. https://lnkd.in/ec8bCUSy

Our employees volunteered at Clear Path for Veterans' Thanksgiving Canteen event last week. Our seven volunteers served meals and helped vets with bill support needs at the event, held at the American Legion Post 1645 in Binghamton. This is a favorite volunteering opportunity each year for us as it gives us a chance to spread good cheer at the beginning of the holiday season.

Continuing with our Veteran's Day observances, we worked with students from Johnson City School District to assemble forget-me-nots. Since 1926, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) gives out the flowers to raise money for veterans, their widows, and orphans. The idea for the flower comes from soldiers who saw the spring flowers growing on the graves of their fallen comrades and allies in WWI. The flower symbolizes respect, remembrance, living history, and service and sacrifice. Our volunteers assembled 5,000 flowers at our Binghamton Service Center last week with the students.
