  • For the first time in history here in Aotearoa, Census data has not been stored on government systems. A week ago today, Māori descent data was published on Te Whata! Te Whata is a data platform tailored specifically by iwi for iwi. For iwi members, technicians and leaders – designers and users of data. We want to be able to tell our own narratives according to our own priorities and world views. This was the first of three major releases on Te Whata in 2024. Kei tawhiti, koutou! #tewhata #iwidata

  • Imagine you’re putting on a hākari and send out the karanga where one (1) whanaunga RSVP’s but 100 show up on the day. Auē hoki te whakamā! You won’t have the resources to look after everyone! All because there wasn’t accurate or up-to-date information during the planning stages. An accurate database - of all forms - helps the pae, ringawera, trustees, kaimahi etc. understand the landscape of where and who their whānau are and what they’re interested in, allowing those involved in planning kaupapa to tailor their approach to be fit for purpose. Pānui mai, click to read more about the importance of an up to date iwi database and add your whakaaro below. Then head to www.o-ra.io to learn more about how we can tautoko with your registry needs. #iwidatabase #iwiregistrysystems
