Since 1927, the Port of Oakland has exclusively owned and operated Oakland Airport (OAK), which is conveniently located on the shores of the San Francisco Bay in Oakland, California. OAK is the closest airport to a majority of Bay Area residents and provides an efficient and reliable option for air travelers into and out of the greater San Francisco Bay Area. OAK is not owned or operated by, or affiliated with, the San Francisco International Airport (SFO), which is located in San Mateo County and is owned and operated by the City and County of San Francisco.
