Within the ODEON project , the GAIA-X-compliant catalog implementation 🌐 by Fraunhofer FOKUS will be further enhanced to serve as the cornerstone for developing the ODEON Marketplace for Data Assets and AI Artifacts. This implementation was showcased at the 📅 Gaia-X Expo Förderwettbewerb in Berlin, held in November, where the ODEON partner presented its advancements to the German GAIA-X community. The event provided a valuable platform 🤝 for collecting feedback and ideas for future improvements to piveau, which is widely adopted as the foundation for European, national, and regional Open Data portals. It brought together key stakeholders from the German GAIA-X community, offering excellent opportunities for networking and collaboration. This event also underscored Fraunhofer FOKUS’s active participation in key networks, showcasing the benefits of piveau and its application within ODEON. Read the full post 📑

👏 This month, we proudly hosted the inaugural #ODEONLivingLabs in the Aran Islands and mainland Ireland, where we engaged with prosumers (consumer-producers of renewable energy) and stakeholders across the Irish energy value chain. These workshops provided valuable insights that will shape the future of the ODEON project. Our initiative included three interactive workshops designed for local energy consumers and participants throughout the Irish energy sector. These sessions were hosted by CFOAT (Comharchumann Fuinnimh Oileáin Árann Teo (Aran Islands Energy Co-Op) and designed/facilitated by Prospex Institute vzw. 🔑 What are the key takeaways from our sessions in Ireland? 👥 A Just Energy Transition is Essential: Inclusion is paramount! We must ensure that individuals from all age groups and income levels, especially the socially marginalized and economically disadvantaged, are part of the energy transition. 🔋 Community Energy Needs: Prosumers are advocating for community-level energy storage, energy sharing, and opportunities to ‘donate’ energy within their communities. 📱 Concerns About Technology: Participants expressed apprehensions regarding the interoperability of connected devices and platforms, local grid connections, and the need for user-friendly interfaces with new digital technologies. 🚧 Common Barriers: We identified challenges such as maintenance availability, conservation and planning issues, local EV repairs, access to grants and favorable financing, and complex technology interfaces. Data access remains a significant hurdle for the energy value chain. 🌐 Accessibility of Solutions: While AI has the potential to enhance energy management, it’s crucial to respect prosumers’ choices regarding their household energy priorities. 💰 Investment Priorities: Prosumers are focused on energy storage, cost reduction, and achieving energy sovereignty. For the energy value chain, key priorities include energy storage, effective public policy, and increased collaboration among energy stakeholders. 📈 Anticipated Benefits: This initiative promises significant advantages, including upskilling, talent development, and job creation in the green economy.
