Transition: complete. The Odys Aviation team has been heads down throughout 2024. A couple of weeks ago, at Mojave Airport in California, we achieved transition of our sub-scale aircraft. We’ve now built and flown nine aircraft prototypes over the past 24 months - seven sub-scale and two full-scale. Why? We test at full-scale on test rigs, in wind tunnels and in flight tests to validate aerodynamic models, physics, and critical performance metrics. We test at sub-scale to optimize resources - iterating 4X faster and at 1/10th the cost. This enables us to shorten our overall development timelines and be ultra capital-efficient. And this approach is building customer confidence. We have now signed over $230m in firm aircraft orders, with accompanying deposits for our aircraft. Simultaneously, we’ve deepened our relationships with the DoD and won a recent $2m contract with the US Navy. And 2024 isn’t over yet. We look forward to sharing more updates on our partnerships and market expansion before the year is out. Watch the video by Bennett Moore and West Ghost to see the flight. #AAM #hybridaviation #VTOL #advancedairmobility #futureofflight #progress #aviation #technology

We're excited to be attending the inaugural Arizona AAM Summit on 29 October hosted in partnership with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Arizona Technology Council, with a keynote from David Shilliday from our partner Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. It's an event which will bring together business leaders, innovators, policymakers and city leaders to discuss how VTOL technology will operate in Arizona. Odys Aviation's Axel Radermacher will be joining Drew Trojanowski, Dan Newman and Darin Weers to dive into the defense use case for #AAM, for those attending the event we hope you can join us. Tony Harrington's commentary here highlights how pilot programs using smaller aircraft are helping to bring #AAM to reality sooner than some might expect.
UPLIFTING PROSPECT Inspired application - while passenger versions of electric air taxis progress lengthy certification processes - and in multiple cases urgent scrambles for critical funding - Fiji Airways has just partnered with US-based start-up Odys Aviation for potential deployment of its autonomous freight version, Laila, from as early as next year. With Fiji’s broad spread of 330 islands, many with limited or even no airport infrastructure, remotely-piloted hybrid-powered aircraft offer significant potential for critical cargo deliveries, including in conditions too dangerous for piloted conventional craft. Based on its initial network studies, Odys expects the required number of aircraft for Fiji to be close to 25, and the joint test programme by the companies in 2025 will aim to support that number. #sustainableaviation #freight #fiji #fijiairways #odysaviation

Our philosophy at Odys is to work in partnership with our customers and the regions they operate in to deliver more than just aircraft; we want to drive the transition to sustainable aviation, and to realize the benefits of a more connected ecosystem. That's why today, we're excited to announce that we've signed an agreement with Fiji Airways, Fiji's national airline, for our runway-independent hybrid VTOL cargo aircraft. Pilot programs using these aircraft are expected to start in 2025. Read more about our partnership here: https://lnkd.in/gU-nDH7S #hybridaviation #vtol #sustainability #aam

"Potential operators and customers are now defining missions which require much greater payloads and longer flight range than the 108nm (200km) maximum offered by most first-generation air taxis, which are largely powered by electric batteries." Read more from Tony Harrington in his article for FlightGlobal about how Odys Aviation's hybrid-electric propulsion technology will solve real consumer needs when it comes to current travel challenges, without range and payload constraints. https://lnkd.in/gBNuyM2q #hybridaviation #sustainableaviation #regionalaviation
