Earning your business degree from Ohio University will be the journey of a lifetime. You’ll thrive and transform into a dynamic business professional who is ready to launch their career. But, as with all growth, your journey will also come with a few challenges. We promise to support you every step of the way.
Need to change your major (and still graduate in four years)? No problem.
Looking to get connected and build your community? We’re ready.
Want to add a certificate or minor to your studies? Done.
Ready to gain experience through an internship? We’ve got your back.
No matter what you’re working towards, Business Academic Advising & Career Services is prepared to help you reach your goals. In addition to keeping you on track to graduate on time, we also provide personalized opportunities to engage with industry leaders, gain professional development experiences, and secure internships and full-time employment. We don’t hand out jobs – we give students the tools, knowledge, and mentoring necessary to develop and manage a successful career.
Through two required career courses, career workshops, events, and one-on-one coaching sessions we instill professionalism and workplace best practices in our students. Upon graduation, our students are prepared to hit the ground running and use their skills throughout their entire career.
But it doesn’t stop there. We continue to support our graduates and employers too. From posting a job or internship opportunity to hosting student and alumni networking events across the country, our relationships transcend the on-campus experience.
We (literally) meet with every single business student. So, you’d be hard pressed to find someone in Copeland Hall that we haven’t helped. And we’re ready to help you too!

I help college students turn their degrees into offers | Founder @ The Strategic Student | Associate Director of Career Services | Lecturer
Most student resumes suffer from vagueness. And a vague resume = a forgettable resume Want to be memorable? Add specifics (relevant to the posting). → Position Titles: • You were not an "Intern" • You were a "Social Media Marketing Intern" → Position Descriptions: • You did not "Help run social media" • You "Increased organization's Instagram following by 25% over 12 weeks by researching target audience and implementing a targeted content strategy" → Position Dates: • You did not work in "Summer 2023" • You worked "Apr 2023 - Aug 2023" → Skills: • You are not skilled in "Graphic design softwares" • You are skilled in "Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign" → Extracurriculars / volunteer roles: • You don't list the position title without adding bullets • You support the position title with impactful bullets And so on. Put yourself in recruiters' shoes. If you were to sift through 100+ of intern applications: You wouldn't remember the 50th "Hard working and passionate marketing student." You'd remember the "Junior marketing student with experience building social media campaigns for a large non-profit organization and leading marketing efforts for a campus-wide student organization." Specifics are your friend. Use them to make yourself memorable.
