Robust Destruction Technologies for Water and Wastewater

About us

Onvector develops non-chemical water treatment technologies which utilize plasma, an advanced oxidation and disinfection process (AOP) that is more robust than ozone or UV. Our Plasma Vortex technology is a plasma hydrocyclone harnessing the power of arc lightning in a controlled cyclone to destroy the most hard-to-treat contaminants in water and wastewater such as PFAS forever chemicals and other contaminants of emerging concern. We create solutions that are designed to reduce cost and improve compliance in challenging industrial and remediation cases.

  • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released its "PFAS Strategic Roadmap: Three Years of Progress. Detailing significant advancements in addressing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination. The roadmap focuses on three primary goals: restricting PFAS from entering the environment, remediating existing contamination, and investing in research to better understand PFAS-related risks and mitigation strategies. Key achievements include the establishment of the first federal, legally enforceable drinking water standards for multiple PFAS in April 2024, aiming to reduce exposure for approximately 100 million people and prevent numerous health issues, including cancers and developmental impacts. Additionally, the EPA designated PFOA and PFOS as hazardous substances under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), empowering the agency to hold polluters accountable for cleanup efforts. The EPA has also prioritized research and data collection, conducting extensive monitoring of PFAS presence in drinking water across thousands of systems nationwide. This comprehensive approach underscores the agency's commitment to safeguarding public health and the environment from the risks associated with PFAS. • A recent study by the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California has identified a link between elevated levels of certain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in young adults' blood and poor sleep quality. PFAS, often referred to as "forever chemicals," are prevalent in consumer products like cookware, food packaging, and cosmetics. The research found that higher concentrations of four specific PFAS—PFDA, PFHxS, PFOA, and PFOS correlate with reduced sleep duration and increased sleep disturbances. This study is the first to explore the molecular mechanisms behind this association, highlighting the potential health risks of PFAS exposure and supporting the need for stricter regulation of these chemicals. • A recent U.S. Geological Survey study indicates that up to 70% of the 140 million Americans relying on groundwater from private or public wells may be consuming water contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). These "forever chemicals" are linked to serious health issues, including cancer and liver problems. The study found PFAS levels in some areas up to 37,000 times higher than the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) new drinking water limits.
