Chad Whitacre recently sat down with Rob Ocel, Adam Rackis and Danny Thompson for a wide ranging discussion on the history of Open Source, sustainability issues, and of course the Open Source Pledge. Check it out!

Our own Vlad-Stefan Harbuz just got back from the fantastic FOSDEM conference in Brussels. See his highlights and watch his talk about getting maintainers paid 👏 #paythemaintainers

Thanks Josh Goldberg 💖!
The Open Source Pledge is one of the most exciting initiatives for open source I've seen in years. Open source is a huge part of how the tech industry pushes forward, improves, and profits. The more we fund it the better the tech world gets. IMO the Open Source Pledge is just the *start* of how companies should interact with open source. Open source funding today is inherently broken. Do the right thing, support open source. #opensource #software

Fun first day in Brussels. I met up with Vlad-Stefan Harbuz (not on this website?), a key contributor to the Open Source Pledge. We wandered around for hours wearing these cool Pledge enamel pins he brought. Look for him at FOSDEM and State of Open (OpenUK) if you want one … first come, first served!

The team behind Sanity didn't initially set out to build a content creation tool used by some of the world's biggest brands — they were a small design consultancy. Annoyed that the tool they wanted didn't exist, they built their own "in a fit of rage". Turns out a lot of other companies wanted it too! Today over a million projects have been built on Sanity. In this member profile for the Open Source Pledge blog, Greg Kumparak talks with Sanity co-founder Simen Svale Skogsrud about the company's wild origin story, the paths not taken, and why they contributed over $100k to Open Source projects last year. Open Source Pledge members have contributed over $2.4M to open source maintainers in the last year; a strong start, but still a long way to go. But what about the actual _distribution_? The status quo will be a bottleneck for any meaningful growth in $$➡OSS, so, on our blog, Chad Whitacre outlines potential solutions.
