Operation Homefront is now accepting applications for our Permanent Homes for Veterans program in Waller, Texas (Houston area) through March 26th. This 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home offers a comfortable and welcoming space, with an open-concept kitchen, gathering room, and a private owner’s suite. The home is being built with pre-determined specifications, and final details—such as layout, square footage, and features—may vary. Located in a community with a resort-style pool, pickleball courts, fitness center, and playground, this home is part of a program that provides veterans and their families with the stability they deserve. Those who successfully complete the program will receive the deed to the home—mortgage-free. A life of service deserves support. 👐🏽 After 9/11, Yakita Watkins felt called to serve her country. She enlisted in the Navy in 2004, deploying twice and dedicating seven years to aviation maintenance aboard the USS Grapple and USS McFaul. After her service, she continued to care for others, earning a nursing degree while raising a family. But in 2023, Yakita faced a difficult choice—leaving her job to care for her son, who has medical needs. With one income and mounting expenses, the family had to give up their only vehicle. Since then, they've relied on borrowed transportation for medical appointments, errands, and everyday life. That changed last week. Thanks to Operation Homefront and U.S. Bank, Yakita, and her family now have a reliable vehicle of their own. No more borrowed rides, no more logistical hurdles, just the freedom to move forward together. This is what support looks like. This is the impact we make—together. For Navy veteran Cydni O'Meally, homeownership felt like a distant dream. After nine years of service and a medical retirement in 2022, the transition to civilian life was tougher than expected. She and her daughter, Jordyn, spent more than two years searching for stability—often in apartments where they had to be mindful of every step out of respect for neighbors. Thanks to Operation Homefront's Permanent Homes for Veterans program and the generosity of U.S. Bank, Cydni and Jordyn now have a home of their own—one where Jordyn can run freely, and where they can be near loved ones. 🏡👩👧🤗 "This is a blessing for me and my daughter," Cydni said. "I thought I would have to work until Jordyn was a teenager before we could get here, so I'm very grateful." Cydni is also looking ahead—she's pursuing a degree in cybersecurity to become a network engineer. And through two years of rent-free housing, financial counseling, and homeowner education, she'll build savings and financial security. Over the past month, Northrop Grumman employees along the East Coast have dedicated their time and effort to assembling hundreds of meal kits for our service members. Jennifer Skell is no stranger to adversity. A dedicated veteran, she has faced more challenges than many do in a lifetime—battling multiple sclerosis, fighting breast cancer, and enduring 17 reconstructive surgeries in just three years. But just as she began to rebuild, a devastating tornado in 2024 tore through her home, causing severe damage and stretching her budget to the brink. Determined not to give up, Jennifer spent countless hours researching, making calls, and submitting applications—until she found Operation Homefront. "After a lot of emails, research, phone calls, and applications, Operation Homefront called me and gave me my first glimpse of hope," Jennifer shared. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, nearly $20,000 was provided for roof and skylight repairs, ensuring Jennifer and her son could live safely under a secure roof once again. "If it wasn't for Operation Homefront and the donors who support them, I wouldn't have been able to replace my skylights and roof.
