Statement From AG Rosenblum: I Have Confidence Our Incoming AG Will Protect Oregonians From Federal Overreach “Beginning in 2017, many of my AG colleagues and I successfully challenged the first Trump administration’s numerous illegal and unconstitutional efforts to undo Americans’ rights and freedoms. “In light of the results of this week’s election, I am grateful and confident that Oregon Attorney General-elect Dan Rayfield and his state AG colleagues will continue to hold the line against any federal government overreach that harms Oregonians. “Attorneys General will continue safeguarding our states’ environmental standards, protecting immigrant communities, and defending our reproductive rights. I hope our new AG, when he takes office in January, will take full advantage of his legal “toolkit” and the skilled professional lawyers and staff at the Oregon Department of Justice to push back against violations of law that threaten the rights and undermine the values of Oregonians. “Together, we need to be prepared to meet the challenges and protect what matters most to Americans.” ###

Recognizing the concern nationwide over possible post-election violence and unrest, this morning Oregon Attorney General and President of the National Association of Attorneys General Ellen Rosenblum and Immediate past-President Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost led a bipartisan coalition of 51 attorneys general in a statement calling for peaceful responses to the election, and to the transition of power in the months ahead. #election

Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum today announced two significant cooperation agreements and settlements with Heritage Pharmaceuticals and Apotex expected to total $49.1 million. The settlements resolve allegations that both companies engaged in widespread, long-running conspiracies. These conspiracies allegedly violated both federal and Oregon antitrust laws. Specifically, Attorney General Rosenblum and others alleged the companies artificially inflated and manipulated prices, reduced competition, and unreasonably restrained trade for numerous generic prescription drugs. “This is anti-competitiveness plain and simple and it hurts the tens of millions of Americans every day who count on their generic drugs to be accessible and affordable,” said Rosenblum. #oregon #antitrust #heritage #apotex

We had an incredible gathering at the 8th Annual Attorney General Rosenblum’s Elder Abuse Conference! Attendees from across Oregon came together, united by a shared mission to prevent elder abuse. The event featured insightful speakers, interactive sessions, and valuable networking opportunities that inspired new ideas and connections.   A special highlight was the presentation of the Wilma’s Justice Award to Detective Dylan Lerch of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. Detective Lerch’s relentless dedication to justice for Oregon's older adults and other vulnerable communities has made a significant impact. With over 200 felony indictments in 2023 alone, he’s known for his humility, tenacity, and compassion—qualities that make him a trusted advocate, mentor, and collaborator.   Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this event a success, and to all who attended and contributed to this meaningful cause. “Marriott failed to live up to basic data security protocols,” commented Attorney General Rosenblum. “After acquiring Starwood in 2016, had Marriott followed their own information security policies, at least two years of continued malware intrusion into the Starwood data systems could have been avoided. And far fewer than the 131,500,000 guest records that were exposed would have been impacted.
