❗❗ EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT! The Oregonian will return to broadsheet format in 2025. ❗❗ What’s a broadsheet, you may ask? For those who don’t consistently have their nose buried in print, a “broadsheet” is the traditional layout of a newspaper. It’s characterized by long pieces of print paper, that are typically folded in the middle, horizontally, to read comfortably. This differs from how The Oregonian currently prints in its ‘compact size’, where the page is folded open, like a book. This may not seem like a huge shift for some, but for lovers of print journalism, it’s an homage to the old days where print circulation ruled it all. “In 2025, we celebrate our 175th year of continuous publication and service to our readers,” said Therese Bottomly, vice president of content and editor of The Oregonian/OregonLive. “I love the idea of commemorating that milestone in our classic format.” Read the full company statement at our blog below. 👇 👇 👇 https://lnkd.in/gBeehrFh

🍎 #Career #Day with Oregonian Media Group! 🍎 The Oregonian / OregonLive.com teams hosted #CareerDay for all the young and inspiring #journalism students out there. 20 students attended from 12 different high schools. The conversation included how journalism is changing to meet the shift in how people consume their news, but also, what remains the same: journalistic integrity being number one. A mock press conference was held for students to engage in. Our panel of journalists, included Elliot Njus, Nik Streng, Julia Silverman, Vickie C., Mike Rogoway and Jonathan Bach shared how they got started in the world of reporting. Big shoutout to Portland Workforce Alliance, Samantha McGee, Ren L, and Susan Nielsen for organizing this fantastic annual event.

Yesterday, our #sales, #marketing and #digitalstrategist teams gathered at our office to look ahead to 2025 – and have a white elephant gift exchange, or a ‘Yankee Swap’ as our New England transplant, Jessica Wangrocki Denney, calls it. The takeaways were inspirational, motivating and brought team goals into focus. A shoutout to Caywood Yamnik Yamik and Dan Rensel for bringing our national brand’s voice into the conversation and to Leah Barrett, our new trainer. Perhaps just as important, however, was the face-to-face time with team members to build comradery and spirit. In this remote work environment, coming together to have a laugh and do business feels like an inexpensive luxury. It leads us to ask the question, how does your team gather? Do you have regular out of the office meetups? Happy hours? Team activities? Share what brings your team together in the comments. We're open to new ideas! #DigitalStrategy #Sales #MediaSales
